[02:07:01] -!- hazzy-lab has quit [Quit: Leaving.]
[06:59:28] -!- pcw_home has quit [Ping timeout: 246 seconds]
[09:02:44] <Lcvette> my parents are evactuating to my place, they live right on the intracoastal watereway on a the end of a culdesac in a neighborhood surrounded by water on 3 sides with very little wind protection
[09:08:17] * Lcvette uploaded an image: parents_house.png (2475KB) < https://matrix.org >
[09:16:16] <Lcvette> my dad is on oxygen and has a pumper that needs electricity so he is coming up since i have a generator
[09:19:10] <Lcvette> although i live right on the cape fear river just a good bit further inland so.. hoping storm surge doesn't become too much of a problem. we are close enough to the mouth of the cape fear that it shouldn't unless its a bizarre perfect scenario with a lunar high tide, coupled with the high ocean surge from the storm and the river surge from inland rain, but the rainfall inland recently has not been to bad the last month so the
[09:19:10] <Lcvette> river is low luckily
[09:20:05] <Lcvette> we live close enough to have todal flow in the river here still so hoping that close enough to avoid any significant normal surge
[09:21:06] <Lcvette> ie water changes direction in flow with tide changes
[09:25:44] -!- JT-Shop has quit [Remote host closed the connection]
[09:25:45] <Lcvette> i lived in Greenville, NC as a student at ECU when Floyd hit, I lived in Tar river apartments... we had a surge of almost 31 feet there, my 2 story apartment which was 4 complexes back off the river was under water to midwall on the second floor, lost everything i owned to that point in my life. my roomate and i had moved everything to the second floor but when the water rose it saturated everything in those 3 year old
[09:25:45] <Lcvette> aprtments and when it receeded, the weight was more than the floor joists could support and the floors collapsed into the first floor. when we went back in (water was low enough) in waders our hung clothes were the only thing remaining in the upstairs closets
[09:26:43] <Lcvette> but they were all molded so we basically just left anything that was not plastic or salvagable. renters insurance didn't cover floods, and fema basically just gave each student a $100 bill
[09:27:08] -!- JT-Shop has joined #hazzy
[09:30:01] <Lcvette> it was my senior year and schoolwise it worked out well for me as i was taking 22 hours of classes to graduate in december and most of the professors took pitty on us displaced students that semester because the living conditions were ridiculous with most students sleeping on floors of friends houses or having to drop out of schoole for the semester because of lack of housing availability

[10:27:32] <Lcvette> this is my property and the 100 year river flood plane so it looks like we should be OK we hope

[10:43:59] <hazzy-m> It looks like your house much less likely to be effected by a surge
[10:44:10] <hazzy-m> Hope you all don't get hit too hard
[10:44:44] <Lcvette> there house won't likely be hurt bvy surge, but wind will really be dangerous for them
[10:45:12] <Lcvette> on the coast things drain as long as its not huge tidal surge but even so they are on stilts
[10:45:37] <hazzy-m> will you board it up?
[10:45:37] <Lcvette> but they have little to no wind protection
[10:46:04] <Lcvette> my two younger brothersd already boarder their house up yesterday while i prepared up here
[10:46:27] <hazzy-m> good
[10:46:48] <Lcvette> my parents have another house on the water in Oak Island that my brother Timmy lives in and maintains
[10:47:19] <Lcvette> its boarded up and my brother cory has a house in Wilmington also across from UNCW and Timmy and cory will stay together and my folks will stay here with me
[10:49:29] <hazzy-m> good. it is amazing what even a low wind can do if it gets an entry point, we had the windows blown out of the end wall of our house a few months ago because I went out to watch the storm and left the front door unlatched, and the window popped it open and blew two windows out the from the inside, lol
[10:52:09] <hazzy-m> everything in one of the bathrooms was gone, including the toilet paper from the holder and my shampoo xD
[10:54:06] <Lcvette> yeah
[10:54:14] <Lcvette> pressure is no joke
[10:54:42] <Lcvette> 140-150mph winds are frightening
[10:54:54] <Lcvette> if they are that high
[10:55:18] <Lcvette> but hoping it dies down
[10:55:39] * Lcvette uploaded an image: oak_island_house.png (4033KB) < https://matrix.org >
[10:57:17] <hazzy-m> You all have too many houses right in the path!
[10:57:23] <Lcvette> seriously
[11:39:50] <jthornton> hazzy-m: I figured out a slick way to get the axis letters from the python interface :)
[11:40:19] <hazzy-m> using the axis mask?
[11:40:37] <jthornton> yea
[11:40:57] <hazzy-m> nice! I never figured it out, lol
[11:41:05] <hazzy-m> how did you do it?
[11:41:39] <jthornton> https://paste.ubuntu.com
[11:42:05] * hazzy-m is scared of bit masks
[11:42:29] <jthornton> I get a list of axes that are <= axis_mask
[11:42:35] <jthornton> not using bit masks
[11:43:09] <jthornton> then remove the highest one and then check if the next one is <= the number left
[11:43:10] <hazzy-m> Nice!
[11:43:24] <jthornton> thanks
[11:43:24] <hazzy-m> looks good
[11:43:48] <hazzy-m> There should be a simpler way to do it using bitwize operations, but that is over my head :D
[11:43:55] * jthornton heads back to work
[11:44:43] <jthornton> the problem I ran into was if it is say 33 for XC axes if you don't subtract the 32 first it won't work out
[12:01:36] <Roguish> You guys want to see pressure, check out Windy: https://www.windy.com
[12:04:47] <hazzy-m> Roguish: That is pretty neat!
[12:05:04] <Roguish> that is the BEST weather web site.
[12:05:07] <hazzy-m> Don't know how accurate that model is, but it shows it heading straight for Lcvette, and then going down the coast and heading to me on Monday. looks like it might stick around for a while :(
[12:06:20] <Roguish> they pull data from several international sources. it's pretty good. probably as good as it gets.
[12:14:16] * hazzy-m adds windy.com to his bookmarks
[12:15:09] <hazzy-m> jthornton: You got more playing with using bitwize operators :D
[12:15:16] <hazzy-m> This is what I came up with: http://dpaste.com
[12:16:58] <Roguish> hazzy-m: just had a good conference call with these guys: https://fluxtrol.com
[12:17:19] <Roguish> https://fluxtrol.com
[12:18:19] <hazzy-m> Nice!
[12:18:45] <hazzy-m> are you trying to get into more induction heating stuff?
[12:19:02] <Roguish> they're going to make a proposal for improving my system
[12:19:35] <Roguish> i'm looking forward to seeing some of their analysis. i'm an analysis guy. love it.
[12:21:53] <hazzy-m> yes, and it is always interesting to how other people analyse it, if you have designed the system from the ground up it is easy to get stuck in a rut and not see certain things (at least that is what happens to me)
[13:06:25] <jthornton> hazzy-m: cool, I'll have to study how that works
[13:17:31] <Not> [02QtPyVCP] 07Kurt Jacobson pushed 032 commits to 03actions [+1/-0/±6] 13https://gitlab.com/Hazzy/qtpyvcp/compare/2a67e4b9252ea18c4670a6fe1dc5acb602f8da12...523f6bfd89281183387e13c06b858a2ac650a0f9
[13:17:33] <Not> [02QtPyVCP] 07Kurt Jacobson 033693eef - more work on program actions
[13:17:34] <Not> [02QtPyVCP] 07Kurt Jacobson 03523f6bf - add coolant actions
[13:27:36] <jthornton> hazzy-m: I understand how it works now and this snippet shows it http://dpaste.com
[13:31:59] <hazzy-m> jthornton: I did not fully understand how it worked, but those prints help a lot!
[13:32:59] <JT-Shop> yea, I had to figure out how it worked or it would drive me nuts lol
[13:33:05] <hazzy-m> oops, I think it should be range(8) instead of range(9)
[13:33:17] <JT-Shop> you can see the 1 bit march across the second row
[13:33:35] <hazzy-m> yes!
[13:46:55] <Lcvette> yay, more buttons
[13:47:00] <Lcvette> hurray!
[13:47:28] <Lcvette> sorry im not more active, im getting things prepared still here
[13:49:32] <hazzy-m> Nono, house and family safe is infinitely more important!
[13:50:56] <Lcvette> maybe
[13:51:13] <Lcvette> hahahaha
[13:51:14] <Lcvette> yeah it is
[13:52:05] <hazzy-m> Lol, you were not very sure xD
[13:53:34] <Lcvette> im excited for the buttons!
[13:53:39] <Lcvette> what can i say
[13:55:07] <hazzy-m> I am thinking about completely changing how the actions are assigned to buttons in QtDesigner
[13:55:27] <Lcvette> :O
[13:55:54] <hazzy-m> right now we have a whole bunch of custom widgets that we have to maintain, in addition to the action code
[13:56:50] <Lcvette> does that mean anytime something changes i won't have to go through and reasign everything again?
[13:56:50] <hazzy-m> as it is now we will have to duplicate a bunch of widgets for HAL
[13:57:11] <hazzy-m> Yes, it will get rig of all that mess
[13:57:15] <Lcvette> sweet
[13:57:21] <Lcvette> alot of work?
[13:58:12] <Lcvette> how will change how the actions are assigned?
[13:58:19] <hazzy-m> basically instead of having drop downs for the actions, you will just type in an "action identifier"
[13:58:44] * hazzy-m uploaded an image: Screenshot_2018-09-12_13-52-16.png (8KB) < https://matrix.org >
[13:58:45] <Lcvette> will it be more like the connection setup for the table buttons?
[13:59:07] <hazzy-m> no, it will be kinda like HAL pin names
[13:59:19] <Lcvette> how will one know what that identifier is?
[14:00:10] <hazzy-m> there will be a list identifying all of them, and it also makes it easy for somebody to add a custom action
[14:00:24] <Lcvette> gotcha
[14:00:38] <hazzy-m> eventually we could add a popup in designer so you can double click on a widget and choose from a list
[14:00:47] <Lcvette> so if i want to add something to a halpin i just add it in my halfile and make it the same in the qt designer
[14:00:56] <hazzy-m> right
[14:01:02] <TurBoss> yo
[14:01:23] <Lcvette> cool
[14:01:29] <TurBoss> morning
[14:01:30] <hazzy-m> for example, to connect a button to a hal bin you would set the action ID to `hal.halui.program-run`
[14:01:30] <Lcvette> thats pretty sweet!
[14:01:50] <hazzy-m> I think it is going to be MUCH better!
[14:01:56] <hazzy-m> Hey TurBoss !!
[14:02:07] <Lcvette> turboss!
[14:02:26] <TurBoss> hello!
[14:02:34] <Lcvette> hello!
[14:02:52] <hazzy-m> hello!
[14:07:46] <Lcvette> im downloading the gitkraken update, its taking forever
[14:07:54] <TurBoss> :O
[14:08:16] * hazzy-m did not get an update :(
[14:23:24] <TurBoss> wow
[14:23:40] <TurBoss> an actor arrested by joking against god
[14:23:41] <TurBoss> lol
[14:24:45] <hazzy-m> LOL
[14:25:25] <TurBoss> inquisition spain stil alive
[14:25:33] <TurBoss> oh no I will go to jail
[15:16:43] <hazzy-m> hahaha, be careful what you say!
[15:16:57] <hazzy-m> They are listening, even on matrix xD
[15:42:05] <jthornton> hazzy-m: 9 was the right range I should have formatted the number with #011b
[16:02:59] <hazzy-m> but we have to count zero, and there are only 9 axes, so I think it should be range(8)? That always trips me up ...
[16:03:07] <hazzy-m> jthornton: what you welding?
[16:06:26] <Not> [02QtPyVCP] 07Kurt Jacobson pushed 031 commit to 03actions [+1/-0/±2] 13https://gitlab.com/Hazzy/qtpyvcp/compare/523f6bfd89281183387e13c06b858a2ac650a0f9...f27b0b55a46f542f9538312ae986613869f8fc63
