[12:14:34] <hazzy-m> Morning
[12:18:23] <Lcvette> morning
[12:28:37] <JT-Shop> morning
[13:31:40] -!- Roguish has joined #hazzy
[14:03:28] <TurBoss> Hello
[14:48:30] <Lcvette> how many spindles can linuxcnc control?
[14:48:38] <Lcvette> hazzy
[14:48:53] <hazzy> Lcvette: 8, I think
[14:52:34] <Lcvette> where is the literature on all of this?
[15:14:39] <jthornton> master
[15:14:53] <Lcvette> where is that?
[15:15:26] <jthornton> http://linuxcnc.org
[15:17:12] <jthornton> http://linuxcnc.org
[15:18:27] <jthornton> ouch rather lacking I see and some markup errors... dang programmers
[15:22:49] <Lcvette> yeah not alot of information
[15:22:53] <Lcvette> just states it handles 8 spindles
[15:23:07] <Lcvette> lol
[15:23:12] <Lcvette> not how
[15:23:13] <Lcvette> :D
[15:23:14] <Lcvette> guess its magic
[15:23:30] <JT-Shop> might be more in the configuration section...
[15:26:33] <hazzy-m> Lcvette: there is a multi-spindle lathe sim config config in the sim.axis folder
[15:27:55] <hazzy-m> I think all you have to add is a [TRAJ] SPINDLES = <num spindles>
[15:32:32] <Lcvette> and control?
[15:32:57] <Lcvette> somehow you need to designate the specific spindle?
[15:33:24] <Lcvette> so an M3 command would need an accompanied input i would assume?
[15:33:50] <Lcvette> or wold it be a newly designate M command for each spindle from the M99-M199?
[15:34:27] <JT-Shop> M100-199 are user defined
[15:35:26] <Lcvette> right
[15:35:29] <Lcvette> so would the user configure those m commands for each individual spindle function for fwd reverse etc?
[15:35:56] <Lcvette> say spindle 2 might be setup to be m103
[15:36:05] <Lcvette> fwd and m104 rev\
[15:36:18] <hazzy-m> all the spindle start/stop with M3 M4 and M5 (which I don't like at all ..)
[15:36:30] <Lcvette> me either
[15:36:42] <hazzy-m> to turn on a specific spindle you use the $ word
[15:37:17] <hazzy-m> so M3 $1 will turn on spindle 1
[15:37:17] <Lcvette> with 8 spindles i would make it M103,104,104, M113,114,115, M123,124,125
[15:37:51] <hazzy-m> set the speed of spindle 1 s300 $1
[15:38:10] <Lcvette> ah ok
[15:38:18] <JT-Shop> I would have made it M3.0 or M3 for default and M3.1 for spindle 1 etc
[15:38:25] <Lcvette> spindle 1 being the main spindle?
[15:38:36] <Lcvette> ooh yeah thats good too JT
[15:38:42] <Lcvette> didn't think about decimals
[15:38:51] <hazzy-m> JT-Shop (IRC): I absolutely agree with that, I think that would have been a far better solution
[15:39:33] <Lcvette> how do the big boys do it with say twin spindle lathes and such?
[15:39:57] <hazzy-m> Also instead of starting all spindles with M3/M4, I think it should be an error if the machine has multiple spindles and no spindle is specified
[15:40:07] <JT-Shop> Lcvette: there are a few more words in the ini config section about multi spindles
[15:40:25] <JT-Shop> http://linuxcnc.org
[15:42:00] <JT-Shop> http://linuxcnc.org
[15:42:36] <JT-Shop> and more groff errors lol
[15:43:04] * JT-Shop goes to cut the monkey grape vine he found a while ago
[15:43:43] <Lcvette> thanks JT
[15:43:51] <Lcvette> have fun with the grape vine!
[15:43:58] <Lcvette> hazzy
[15:44:30] <Lcvette> when i run this newer version on my machine if i only specify 1 spindle i won't need to use any new special characters like the $1 will i?
[15:46:05] <hazzy-m> No, its not supposed to have changed anything for single spindle machines
[15:47:28] <hazzy-m> (there were some bugs that did change the behavior of single spindle machines, but I think most of those are fixed by now)
[15:52:25] <Lcvette> Ok
[15:52:31] <Lcvette> Sweet
[15:55:38] <Lcvette> I'm planning my twin spindle lathe build in my head
[17:52:43] <hazzy-m> awesome!
