[09:21:01] <jthornton> morning
[09:22:02] <jthornton> in my other coop RPi I used python schedule in this one I'm using pyqt4, should I use QtCore.QTimer to schedule updates to the door/light times?
[09:39:29] <jthornton> that can't work it does something every pre-defined unit of time, I need to do something when the date changes...
[09:40:15] -!- JT-Shop has quit [Remote host closed the connection]

[11:11:38] <hazzy-m> morning
[11:12:29] <pdadroid4[m]> morning
[11:13:06] <hazzy-m> If you wanted a pure Qt solution you could use a QTimer to run periodic code that checks the QDate to see whether it is time to run the code yet
[11:13:27] <hazzy-m> probably more trouble than it is worth ...
[11:13:46] <hazzy-m> pdadroid4: hello!
[11:13:48] <JT-Shop> yea prob easier to use schedule
[11:14:11] <hazzy-m> yeah
[11:14:35] <pdadroid4[m]> hazzy: hello there
[11:15:32] <hazzy-m> BTW I forgot to mention yesterday that QtPyVCP should work with PyQt5, PyQt4, PySide2 or PySide
[11:15:48] <hazzy-m> I've never tested it with PyQt4 but suposetly it will work
[13:20:58] <Lcvette> yo
[13:21:04] <Lcvette> hazzy
[13:21:11] <hazzy-m> hey
[13:21:30] <Lcvette> did you see Turboss's questions
[13:21:51] <Lcvette> I don't know if i was able to give him what he was after or not
[13:22:07] <hazzy-m> i guess not
[13:22:08] <hazzy-m> lol
[13:22:48] <hazzy-m> oh, about the work coords?
[13:23:36] <Lcvette> yes
[13:23:39] <hazzy-m> aha "does exist something like the toolno replace in the mdi field but for the coord status?"
[13:23:49] <Lcvette> yeah
[13:23:52] <hazzy-m> we need something like that
[13:24:15] <hazzy-m> not sure how to do that at the moment, but it could be done with the rules
[13:24:21] <Lcvette> i was not 100% sure what he was asking
[13:24:42] <Lcvette> he was tired i think nd speaking spanglish
[13:24:50] <hazzy-m> I should make it so you can substitute values from the rules channels into an MDI command
[13:24:53] <hazzy-m> that would be very usefull
[13:25:15] <Lcvette> hey where did the status of m and g codes go on the far right of the screen?
[13:25:23] <Lcvette> the vanished
[13:25:32] <Lcvette> is brioken?
[13:25:35] <hazzy-m> oh, I have not check
[13:25:42] <hazzy-m> probably broken
[13:25:43] <hazzy-m> yeah
[13:25:43] <hazzy-m> lol
[13:26:12] <hazzy-m> I've changes a lot of stuff, but its not complete enough yet to be worth fixing the UIs
[13:27:17] <Lcvette> ok
[13:54:54] <pdadroid4[m]> how to use the iptables CT target to attach helpers instead ?
[13:57:18] <hazzy-m> pdadroid4: I have no idea. If anybody here knows it would be TurBoss
[13:57:23] <hazzy-m> are you working on a server?
[13:58:24] <pdadroid4[m]> on ubuntu 16.04 desktop wirtual machine
[13:58:42] <pdadroid4[m]> and windows 7
[13:59:02] <hazzy-m> ah
[13:59:33] <hazzy-m> so your trying to get network access for the VM?
[14:00:56] <pdadroid4[m]> setting up vpn in ubuntu but have some problems with keyring and iptables
[14:17:51] -!- jthornton has quit [Read error: Connection reset by peer]

[15:05:13] <Lcvette> hazzy
[15:05:36] <Lcvette> you like old technology computing stuff
[15:05:43] <Lcvette> \you know much about it?
[15:06:19] <hazzy-m> no, not really
[15:07:06] <hazzy-m> I guess it depends on what it is
[15:07:13] <hazzy-m> what are you thinking?
[15:08:04] <Lcvette> trying to figure out if there is a way to use a usb on this old system
[15:08:20] <hazzy-m> ah
[15:08:20] <Lcvette> its kinda oldschool
[15:08:28] <hazzy-m> its not that old, only 93, right?
[15:08:30] <Lcvette> 8088 non isa 8 bit
[15:08:56] <hazzy-m> hmmm
[15:09:08] <Lcvette> if it were an isa i would think it might be possible
[15:09:16] <Lcvette> to use a usb to floppy emulator
[15:09:59] <Lcvette> but not sure how to go about it with a non ISA
[15:11:22] <hazzy-m> it is probably possible, but it may not be worth it
[15:11:47] <hazzy-m> does it use a floppy for tape drive?
[15:11:53] <hazzy-m> or*
[15:32:48] <pdadroid4[m]> i think 8088 not suport usb
[15:44:33] <pdadroid4[m]> at last 386 on board
[15:50:14] <Lcvette> it boots from a 3.5 and reads and writes to a 5.25"
[15:51:05] * Lcvette uploaded an image: IMG_20181114_115707903.jpg (35KB) < https://matrix.org >
[15:53:01] <pdadroid4[m]> oldschool ;)
[15:53:32] <Lcvette> 4realz
[15:53:35] <Lcvette> lol
[16:00:20] <pdadroid4[m]> machine for dos only
[16:04:48] <pdadroid4[m]> 1MB of ram
[18:39:36] <hazzy-m> whoa, that is oldshool!
[18:40:00] <hazzy-m> the 1983 BP Boss mills were more modern than that
[19:09:50] * hazzy-m uploaded an image: image.png (67KB) < https://matrix.org >
[19:10:15] <hazzy-m> I added a --qt-api option for selecting the Qt bindings QtPyVCP uses
[19:11:07] <hazzy-m> with pyqt4 I can get the VCP chooser to start up, but the main GUI crashes complaining about a tooltip problem
[19:11:08] <hazzy-m> BOOOO
[19:12:46] <hazzy-m> it is probably not worth supporting Qt4 officialy, but at least it kinda works
[19:14:13] <hazzy-m> it runs fine with PySide2, except for some minor problems with gremlin using old style py classes
[19:15:49] <hazzy-m> that should be realistic to fix
[19:16:10] <hazzy-m> and since PySide2 is on PyPi, all the QtPyVCP dependencies could be automatically installed via pip on any system that supports python 2.7
[19:16:42] <hazzy-m> which means pretty much all distros whould work
[19:17:13] <hazzy-m> certainly wheezy and Mint17 at least
[19:17:40] <jthornton> cool
