[00:00:03] <Lcvette> will it fit is the question
[00:00:28] <Lcvette> what are AA's 1.5v each?
[00:00:37] <hazzy-m> yes
[00:00:37] <Lcvette> so need a 3v lion
[00:00:44] <hazzy-m> and a lion is 4.7
[00:00:53] <hazzy-m> so you'd need a regulator
[00:00:58] <hazzy-m> but that would be easy
[00:29:09] <Lcvette> turboss
[00:29:26] <Lcvette> you scallywag
[00:30:52] <hazzy-m> lol
[00:32:00] <Lcvette> https://www.amazon.com
[00:33:27] <Lcvette> here are some AA Lion batteries
[00:46:48] <Lcvette> turboss
[05:57:50] <jthornton> morning
[06:00:23] <jthornton> I use these https://www.amazon.com
[06:32:31] -!- gadue has joined #hazzy
[06:45:26] -!- gadue has quit [Quit: http://www.kiwiirc.com - A hand crafted IRC client]
[08:10:27] <jthornton> on a fresh debian 9 install pip is not installed so you might want to add that to the install dev dependencies
[08:39:04] <jthornton> and qtpyvcp is up and running in dev... almost done
[08:42:58] <jthornton> and you might want to mention how to install qt5 designer :)
[08:45:45] <jthornton> hmm it's installed but not on the menu...
[08:57:14] <jthornton> finally sorted that out it's /usr/bin/designer lol
[08:57:23] <jthornton> off to the shower
[09:15:41] <hazzy-m> jthornton there is a command line too for launching designer to edit vcps
[09:16:37] <hazzy-m> editvcp vcp-name-or-file [options ...]
[09:37:08] <jthornton> I like to run stuff from the menu if I can, easier for me to remember where and how to do it
[09:38:16] <hazzy-m> well then you will need to add the editvcp command to the menu, it does a lot more than just launch designer ...
[09:38:53] <hazzy-m> if you don't pass it a file on the command line it will show a file dialog, so that should work
[09:39:48] <hazzy-m> you will have to sellect the .yml config file acciated with the vcp you want to edit
[09:40:27] * hazzy-m has not had enough coffee to be able to spell properly yet
[09:54:52] * jthornton emails hazzy-m another cup of jot
[09:54:55] <jthornton> joe even
[10:09:16] <Lcvette> JT Thorton, you neeed a happy face designer
[10:09:21] <Lcvette> but they are gone now
[10:09:47] <Lcvette> :(
[10:11:57] * Lcvette uploaded an image: image.png (140KB) < https://matrix.org >
[10:12:09] <Lcvette> a relic of a simpler time
[10:12:24] <hazzy-m> LOL
[10:12:35] <hazzy-m> ```
[10:12:37] <Lcvette> :D
[10:12:50] <JT-Shop> I need that one lol
[10:13:09] <Lcvette> it no worky anymore
[10:13:12] <Lcvette> :(
[10:13:26] <hazzy-m> JT-Shop: if you install LCNC system wide you can use this: http://dpaste.com
[10:13:37] <hazzy-m> same for you Lcvette
[10:13:52] <hazzy-m> "Make Lcvette Happy Again!"
[10:13:54] * Lcvette uploaded an image: image.png (40KB) < https://matrix.org >
[10:14:21] <Lcvette> what you mean?
[10:15:03] <hazzy-m> copy the contents of that file a send into a file named `Edit VCP.desktop`
[10:15:15] <hazzy-m> and place it on your desktop
[10:15:37] <hazzy-m> then it would run editvcp
[10:15:46] -!- aggadaway has joined #hazzy
[10:15:46] <Lcvette> if you install LCNC system wide you can use this: http://dpaste.com/0XVFYQ4
[10:15:55] <hazzy-m> but the problem is you don't have LCNC 2.8 installed system wide
[10:16:00] <Lcvette> i don't understand this hitech coder speak
[10:16:02] <hazzy-m> aggadaway: hello
[10:16:09] <aggadaway> hi!
[10:16:38] <hazzy-m> Lcvette: If you install from buildbot instead of running from the RIP git checkout
[10:16:43] <aggadaway> i see a great progress of this UI! guys this is amazing, congrats
[10:16:54] <hazzy-m> aggadaway: Thanks!
[10:17:00] <Lcvette> hello aggadaway
[10:17:04] <Lcvette> thanks!
[10:17:17] <aggadaway> is the UI usable? i wanna give it a try
[10:17:21] <Lcvette> whats the drawback of buildbot install?
[10:17:36] <Lcvette> vs the rip?
[10:17:54] <Lcvette> it is in testing
[10:18:03] <hazzy-m> aggadaway: it is getting very close to being usable
[10:18:48] <hazzy-m> what OS are you running?
[10:19:09] <hazzy-m> Lcvette: only drawback is that you can't edit a buildbot install, but you arn't doing that anyway, you'd be better off with buildbot vs. RIP
[10:19:31] <Lcvette> what do you mean edit
[10:19:37] <Lcvette> no more kraken?
[10:20:04] <aggadaway> nice! i was wondering about the probing, because i dont like "verser" style of probing
[10:21:02] <Lcvette> probing will be after the gui testing is completed
[10:21:03] <Lcvette> we have build one working routine but are waiting to test it on the machine before finishing with the full suiote of probing sub routines
[10:21:05] <aggadaway> ok, i wish to contribute to this, if possible
[10:21:10] <hazzy-m> Lcvette: you can change the files, recompile and you get your changes immediately , with buildbot you have to push to github and wait for the bot to build and then apt update to get the new version, a lot longer process
[10:21:15] <Lcvette> yes please by all means
[10:21:41] <Lcvette> ah, i will stick with rip
[10:21:44] <hazzy-m> aggadaway: we can use all the help we can get, thank you!
[10:21:54] <aggadaway> my pleasure
[10:22:06] <Lcvette> what are your strengths aggadaway
[10:23:28] <aggadaway> i work with a DMG Mori, with an Heidenhain controller and i love the probing system
[10:24:41] <aggadaway> i use gmoccapy and i was wondering of changing the GUI made by verser to be simpler and for me more straightforward
[10:25:32] <aggadaway> to be concise, the system i like is to move to the point by jog/pendant and get the probe on
[10:26:48] <hazzy-m> aggadaway: I don't like the verser probing either. He did it all in python, Lcvette is doing it all as subroutines and I think it will be a lot more versatile and easier to customize
[10:26:54] <Lcvette> ah, do you do coding?
[10:27:41] <aggadaway> i'm not great with pythom, but yes a little bit of coding (C, C++, php, etc.)
[10:28:21] <Lcvette> will certainly appreciate help in finishing all of the probing subroutines once the gui interface is machine tested
[10:29:20] <aggadaway> good, in the meantime i need to test the GUI
[10:29:44] <aggadaway> i love it, look awesome!
[10:30:19] <hazzy-m> aggadaway: There is some info on installing here: https://qtpyvcp.kcjengr.com
[10:30:46] <hazzy-m> I can also walk you thru setting up a development install if youd like to do that
[10:31:03] <Lcvette> this guy is a tire kicker
[10:31:51] <jthornton> hazzy-m: do you need a copy of my debian 9.5 instructions?
[10:31:58] <aggadaway> oh yes please yes let me in developer mode xD
[10:32:13] <jthornton> bbib\
[10:33:01] <hazzy-m> aggadaway: Do you have a Linux machine running, if so what OS?
[10:33:43] <aggadaway> yes i have a small mill in my lab, if i recall correctly is running with a debian wheezy
[10:33:54] <hazzy-m> the Debian Stretch LCNC iso is that is easiest to get set up
[10:34:37] <aggadaway> is it better to update to debian stretch?
[10:34:37] <hazzy-m> you will also need LinuxCNC 2.8~pre (master) to run or test QtPyVCP
[10:34:53] <aggadaway> i've the latest linuxcnc from git
[10:35:00] <hazzy-m> yes, I would highly recomend it
[10:35:38] <aggadaway> ok, no problem. i'm going to update everything
[10:35:49] <hazzy-m> with wheezy you will have to build Qt5 and PyQt5 from source, which is not so fun
[10:36:01] <hazzy-m> ok, sounds good!
[10:38:01] <hazzy-m> jthornton: yes, that would be great!
[10:39:34] <hazzy-m> aggadaway: Here are the lcnc stretch images: www.linuxcnc.org/testing-stretch-rtpreempt/
[10:39:55] <aggadaway> yep, thanks

[10:48:46] <hazzy-m> that will update the entry points
[10:49:11] <Lcvette> Directory '.' is not installable. File 'setup.py' not found.
[10:49:29] <hazzy-m> you need to be in the qtpyvcp dir
[10:50:11] * Lcvette uploaded an image: image.png (35KB) < https://matrix.org >
[10:52:17] <hazzy-m> cd ..
[10:52:22] <hazzy-m> and try again
[10:52:32] <hazzy-m> you need to be in the qtpyvcp-master directory
[10:54:26] <Lcvette> it installed in the other directory
[10:54:35] <Lcvette> is that bad?
[10:54:43] <hazzy-m> should be fine
[10:54:47] <Lcvette> i was too fast

[10:56:59] <Lcvette> to start working on routines
[10:57:04] <Lcvette> me too
[10:57:11] <hazzy-m> I don't think it uses qtpyvcp at all
[10:57:13] <Lcvette> something happened with the new linuxcnc update

[11:45:18] <hazzy-m> jthornton: thanks!
[11:46:55] <TurBoss> afk
[11:46:56] <hazzy-m> TurBoss: You need to restart designer after making changes in the kraken or designer will overwrite the ui file with an old version
[11:47:10] <hazzy-m> I did that several times to probe baseic by accident
[11:47:29] <TurBoss> Oh ok
[11:47:34] <hazzy-m> cu
[11:48:34] <Lcvette> still busted?

[12:32:51] <Lcvette> hazzy, you added in the full menu bar!
[12:32:53] <Lcvette> hurray!
[12:36:20] <Lcvette> is it formattable?
[12:36:42] <hazzy-m> yes, very much so
[12:36:46] <Lcvette> i don't see a style sheet option for it and i don't see it mentioned in the qss
[12:37:14] <hazzy-m> it is defined in the yaml files
[12:37:17] <hazzy-m> oh yes, you can style it too
[12:37:27] <hazzy-m> https://github.com
[12:38:29] <Lcvette> i see it
[12:38:29] <hazzy-m> if you want to customize the menu items you can copy that file into your probe basic directory
[12:39:07] <Lcvette> how to do
[12:39:12] <Lcvette> highlight it?
[12:39:15] <Lcvette> copy paste?
[12:39:17] <Lcvette> or?
[12:39:21] * hazzy-m sent a long message: < https://matrix.org >
[12:39:34] <hazzy-m> I'll had it for you and push
[12:39:46] <hazzy-m> have to change a few things in the other yml files too
[12:39:48] <Lcvette> ok thanks!

[12:53:28] <Lcvette> im confused
[12:53:47] * Lcvette uploaded an image: image.png (229KB) < https://matrix.org >
[12:54:55] <Lcvette> in designer i am showing a still formatted menu bar
[12:55:46] <Lcvette> hazzy, any thoughts?
[12:56:08] <Lcvette> the new push didn't change anything
[12:56:24] <Lcvette> that i can see
[12:57:04] <hazzy-m> Yes, that is normal, the yaml menu replaces any menu in made in designer
[12:57:16] <Lcvette> ok
[12:57:28] <hazzy-m> It just removed a duplicate entry
[12:57:37] <Lcvette> then was i supposed to copy and paste that code into the qss file?
[12:58:08] * Lcvette sent a long message: < https://matrix.org >
[12:58:47] <hazzy-m> If you want, just an example
[12:58:56] <hazzy-m> Stolen from turboss
[12:59:03] <hazzy-m> Who stole it from ...
[12:59:23] <TurBoss> Lol
[13:01:51] <Lcvette> turboss did you steal it from me?
[13:02:21] <TurBoss> Some dark stylesheet
[13:02:33] <TurBoss> From qt
[13:28:11] <JT-Shop2> almost done with this cat bypass and the temperature is 48°F so time for a bike ride
[13:32:00] <hazzy-m> enjoy
[13:38:20] <Lcvette> hazzy...
[13:38:28] <Lcvette> can i format the menu items?
[13:38:42] <Lcvette> in the drop downs?
[13:39:13] <hazzy-m> what do you mean by format?
[13:39:54] <Lcvette> bckgrnd color, font, text color, highlight color, click color etc
[13:40:04] <hazzy-m> sure
[13:40:09] <hazzy-m> in the QSS
[13:40:17] <hazzy-m> are you not having any luck?
[13:40:48] <Lcvette> i can do the background bar, the drop down headers etc but not inside the drop down lists
[13:41:54] * hazzy-m uploaded an image: image.png (275KB) < https://matrix.org >
[13:42:28] <Lcvette> yes that portion
[13:42:37] <Lcvette> im unable to change anything there
[13:42:56] * hazzy-m sent a long message: < https://matrix.org >
[13:43:17] <hazzy-m> that should do the actual menus
[13:43:23] <Lcvette> ah ok
[13:43:34] <Lcvette> perfect! thanks!

[14:39:44] <Lcvette> i gotta figure out the color thing in the qss neditor
[14:40:35] <Lcvette> it takes me forever going back and forth into the designer to make a color selection
[14:43:15] <Lcvette> is block delete supposed to be checkable?
[14:44:54] <hazzy-m> yes
[14:52:55] <Lcvette> changes pushed
[14:52:56] <Lcvette> whoo hoo

[20:35:56] <Lcvette> i left off the function keys and the page up page down etc
[20:35:59] <Lcvette> home and end
[20:36:05] <Lcvette> cuold add that though
[20:36:38] <hazzy-m> I am going to make it so there can be diffrent layouts, so there could be a spanish one etc, but that is perfect for the english one
[20:36:53] <hazzy-m> I don't think you need those, not used that much
[20:37:32] <TurBoss> you said QML?
[20:37:42] <TurBoss> for the keyboard?
[20:37:45] <TurBoss> that could help
[20:37:54] <TurBoss> dinamically change widget layout
[20:38:07] <hazzy-m> ues, there is a QML keyboard, but i'm not sure how to use it
[20:38:12] <hazzy-m> could not get it to work
[20:38:20] <TurBoss> point me
[20:38:22] <TurBoss> to that
[20:39:16] <hazzy-m> oh, found this: http://doc.qt.io
[20:39:41] <hazzy-m> also: http://doc.qt.io
[20:39:54] <hazzy-m> not related, but interesting
[20:40:09] <TurBoss> ah but not the qml thing=
[20:40:21] * hazzy-m is trying to find it
[20:40:35] <TurBoss> maybe we can do like the ATC widget
[20:44:18] <Lcvette> border-width: ?
[20:44:31] <Lcvette> is that the qss?
[20:44:35] <Lcvette> can't remember it
[20:44:42] <hazzy-m> TurBoss: http://doc.qt.io
[20:44:44] <Lcvette> turboss hazzy
[20:44:54] <TurBoss> great!
[20:44:56] <hazzy-m> yes
[20:44:58] <Lcvette> border-thickness:
[20:44:59] <TurBoss> yos
[20:45:09] <hazzy-m> border-width:
[20:45:48] <TurBoss> hazzy:
[20:45:59] <TurBoss> where I can play with the keyboard
[20:46:03] <TurBoss> sek reboot

[21:03:46] <hazzy-m> whoa!
[21:03:48] <hazzy-m> Nice!!!
[21:03:57] <Lcvette> probe basic flare
[21:04:01] <Lcvette> lol
[21:04:34] <Lcvette> subtle but makes it easier to navigate with your eyes right?
[21:04:45] <hazzy-m> very much so
[21:05:07] <hazzy-m> it's those little touches that make if big difference in easy of use
[21:07:44] <Lcvette> ok, now i wanna launch it
[21:07:45] <Lcvette> lol
[21:07:55] <Lcvette> :D
[21:11:42] <Lcvette> we need a seperate numerical keyboard too?
[21:11:48] <Lcvette> hazzy?
[21:12:00] <Lcvette> i goofed, i saved this one as the other file
[21:12:02] <Lcvette> :/
[21:12:09] <hazzy-m> I think it would be goof to have a small one as well
[21:12:27] <hazzy-m> that's fine, we still have it in git history
[21:13:46] <Lcvette> i am going to save this as full_keyboard.ui
[21:13:49] <Lcvette> is that good?
[21:14:09] <Lcvette> then i will modify the int.keyboard.ui to make it a small numerical version
[21:14:15] <Lcvette> similar to what you had
[21:23:45] <TurBoss> qml-module-qtquick-virtualkeyboard not in debian 9 :(
[21:23:47] * Lcvette uploaded an image: image.png (19KB) < https://matrix.org >
[21:24:26] <hazzy-m> TurBoss: Thanks for confirming. I tried to build from source but no luck

[21:27:27] <hazzy-m> absolutly
[21:27:35] <Lcvette> i left the arrows on it, figured they may come in handy for something?
[21:28:04] <hazzy-m> yes, very usefull for navigating text to replace
[21:34:52] * Lcvette uploaded an image: image.png (20KB) < https://matrix.org >
[21:35:02] <Lcvette> makes better sense
[21:36:10] <Lcvette> ok think they are good for now

[21:39:48] <hazzy-m> should be fine
[21:39:55] <TurBoss> but?=
[21:40:03] <hazzy-m> I build from source
[21:40:16] <TurBoss> what you bulding?
[21:40:39] <hazzy-m> to get the libpyqt5.so files
[21:40:55] <hazzy-m> I build everything from source
[21:41:04] <TurBoss> oh so you have the env?
[21:41:06] <hazzy-m> qt, sip and pyqt
[21:41:25] <hazzy-m> not anymore, I lost that HDD
[21:41:36] <TurBoss> pew
[21:41:43] <Lcvette> can i insert a .ui into probe basic?
[21:41:54] <hazzy-m> that is when I tried to build the keyboard
[21:41:56] <hazzy-m> I faild
[21:42:16] <Lcvette> talking to me?
[21:42:18] <hazzy-m> Lcvette: Yes, select everything copy and paste

[21:42:53] <hazzy-m> xD
[21:43:04] <hazzy-m> but it always looks great!
[21:43:05] <hazzy-m> lol
[21:44:15] <TurBoss> I'll try web install
[21:44:22] <TurBoss> also
[21:44:34] * TurBoss is building a yocto thing! yes again
[21:45:36] <hazzy-m> Hurray!!
[21:45:51] <hazzy-m> should be easier with Qt
[21:46:23] * Lcvette uploaded an image: image.png (190KB) < https://matrix.org >
[21:47:09] <hazzy-m> I think the keybord colors are better than the UI!
[21:47:18] <hazzy-m> I like that blue
[21:47:26] <hazzy-m> less purple
[21:47:49] <Lcvette> not me
[21:47:54] <Lcvette> to aqua
[21:48:06] <Lcvette> they changed from the designer for some reason
[21:48:41] <hazzy-m> we need sass so you can set our own colors easily
[21:49:00] <Lcvette> the other blue you say is purply i think appears to be more like an led back lit button
[21:50:25] <hazzy-m> I also like the flater buttons gradients
[21:50:31] <hazzy-m> I think it looks very slick
[21:56:40] <Lcvette> i know you dio
[21:56:50] <Lcvette> i have seen you ui designs
[21:57:16] <Lcvette> nothing wrong with like different things
[21:57:23] <Lcvette> but I prefer them to have some life
[21:57:31] <Lcvette> these could be better though
[21:57:31] <hazzy-m> I UI designer all suck though :)
[21:57:51] <Lcvette> but for now, more important is to finish functionality
[21:58:10] <hazzy-m> yes, appearance tweeks can come latter
[21:58:29] <hazzy-m> we can even have multiple qss files that can be selected
[21:58:35] <Lcvette> then people from all walks can begin tweaking and collaboration of many minds can bring new ideas and talents into the design pool
[21:59:41] <Lcvette> can you imagine what someone will do sitting down in front of this and tweaking it when they aren't burnt out from building everything else on it..lol
[21:59:46] <Lcvette> they will be fresh
[22:00:39] <Lcvette> i hope some real graphical talent comes in and does some phenominal things that blows my designs out fo the water
[22:00:49] <Lcvette> nothing would make me happier
[22:01:31] <Lcvette> it means we will have succeeded in breathing new life and inspiration into the linuxcnc community
[22:01:57] <hazzy-m> yes, I hope that happens!
[22:02:05] <hazzy-m> gtg, bb in a bit
[22:02:15] <Lcvette> ok
[22:02:19] <Lcvette> :D
[22:04:20] <Lcvette> turboss
[22:04:26] <Lcvette> how did you do your buttons?
[22:04:39] <TurBoss> de drawings?
[22:04:44] <TurBoss> the*
[22:04:48] <TurBoss> or the code?
[22:04:55] <Lcvette> the grphics
[22:05:03] <Lcvette> you used a graphic for them
[22:05:10] <TurBoss> using blender
[22:05:15] <TurBoss> 3d designer tool
[22:05:18] <Lcvette> whats blender
[22:05:38] <TurBoss> i drawed them on 3d and took pictures
[22:06:31] <Lcvette> is blender on linux or windows
[22:06:37] <TurBoss> both
[22:06:59] <TurBoss> I can draw somthing if you need
[22:07:29] <Lcvette> i would like to play in it
[22:07:45] <TurBoss> then download the 2.8 beta
[22:07:47] <TurBoss> on windows
[22:07:52] <TurBoss> would run fastr
[22:08:01] <TurBoss> because of your pc
