Back
[00:00:07] <Lcvette> Hmm, I have one of those in my Mach machine
[00:00:29] <Lcvette> And every once in a while it freaks out
[00:00:34] <Lcvette> Intermittently
[00:01:03] <Lcvette> Can't figure out what causes it but it sits down mach 3
[00:01:16] <Lcvette> Wonder if it had something to do with the ess
[00:03:50] <hazzy-m> Ess?
[00:04:15] <Lcvette> Ethernet smoothstepper
[00:04:46] <hazzy-m> Ah, could be
[00:05:14] <Lcvette> And latency
[00:05:27] <Lcvette> Or is that only a linuxcnc this f?
[00:05:35] <Lcvette> Thing*
[00:05:57] * hazzy-m uploaded an image: IMG_20190216_000456304.jpg (331KB) < https://matrix.org >
[00:05:58] * hazzy-m found his lathe, took some digging, lol
[00:06:12] <Lcvette> Cnc it!!
[00:06:44] <hazzy-m> It is running LCNC now, but was set up with Mach and a USB ss
[00:06:54] <hazzy-m> I should!
[00:07:25] <Lcvette> Do it
[00:08:32] * hazzy-m found his other lathe too, it was really barried
[00:08:42] * hazzy-m uploaded an image: IMG_20190216_000747561.jpg (263KB) < https://matrix.org >
[00:09:37] <Lcvette> Tear it apart and bolt it to your md001 Mill bed
[00:10:34] <hazzy-m> Yes, make it a duality lathe!
[00:10:41] <Lcvette> Boom
[00:10:58] <hazzy-m> Hey, do they still sell that thing? Haven't seen it in a while
[00:11:55] <Lcvette> Put a spin indexer spindle in the headstock and a pneumatic draw puller for 5c collet
[00:12:15] <Lcvette> Think they discontinued it
[00:13:26] <Lcvette> https://youtu.be
[00:13:27] <hazzy-m> that would be pretty sweet!
[00:14:20] <hazzy-m> of course hoss did that, lol
[00:14:33] * hazzy-m uploaded an image: IMG_20190216_001145491.jpg (389KB) < https://matrix.org >
[00:14:39] <Lcvette> Then just get some 5c Chuck adapters for various different chicks you might need
[00:15:00] <hazzy-m> I couldn't even get to that bench a few days ago, took a bunch of crap to the dump, sooo much better
[00:15:03] <hazzy-m> I can work again!
[00:15:10] <Lcvette> Nice!!
[00:15:19] <Lcvette> Looking spacious
[00:16:02] <hazzy-m> thes little lathes really shoud have 5c spindles by default, MT3 is useless on such a tiny machine
[00:17:51] <hazzy-m> hmm, looking at that picture I see I still have too much junk ..
[00:19:14] <Lcvette> Lol
[00:19:24] <Lcvette> Nonsense, need more junk
[00:19:36] <Lcvette> Just need bigger space
[00:19:50] <Lcvette> Then will look like you don't have enough junk
[00:19:58] <hazzy-m> LOL
[00:20:09] <Lcvette> :D
[00:20:42] <hazzy-m> I had to pass up a real nice cylindrical grinder and large mandrel tubing bender the other day, it hurt bad
[00:21:13] <Lcvette> Mandrel tubing Bender?
[00:21:27] <Lcvette> True mandrel tubing Bender?
[00:21:31] <hazzy-m> yes
[00:21:34] <Lcvette> With internal mandrel?
[00:21:38] <hazzy-m> yep
[00:21:48] <Lcvette> I want it
[00:21:50] <hazzy-m> a very nice one
[00:22:06] <hazzy-m> serious? we can work that out
[00:22:10] <Lcvette> Me me me me
[00:22:29] <Lcvette> I'm in automotive performance
[00:22:30] <Lcvette> Lol
[00:22:31] * hazzy-m uploaded an image: IMG_5509_01.jpg (95KB) < https://matrix.org >
[00:22:55] * hazzy-m uploaded an image: IMG_5485_01.jpg (113KB) < https://matrix.org >
[00:23:21] <hazzy-m> I can get more pic and specs if your interested
[00:23:33] <Lcvette> Wow
[00:24:53] <hazzy-m> he gave the grinder to me a while back, but I did have space so finaly told him he could get rid of it :(
[00:25:37] <hazzy-m> it went to a good home for a $250 delivery fee
[00:25:46] <Lcvette> Wow
[00:25:57] <Lcvette> That Bender is big
[00:26:08] <hazzy-m> nah, that is a baby
[00:26:28] <hazzy-m> I think it is only 2" or 2.5" capacity
[00:26:35] <Lcvette> Ah
[00:27:14] <hazzy-m> I guess maybe more it was thin wall tube like exhaust pipe
[00:27:15] <Lcvette> 3" is Brad and butter in performance
[00:28:12] <hazzy-m> he has a couple benders but that one is pretty small for what he does and not CNC so never gets used
[00:29:09] <hazzy-m> https://youtu.be
[00:29:28] <hazzy-m> That is his main bender, it is a home built
[00:31:36] <Lcvette> Needs a cnc 4th axis
[00:31:53] <Lcvette> With a ladder program
[00:32:08] * hazzy-m uploaded an image: IMG_20190216_003148303.jpg (338KB) < https://matrix.org >
[00:32:30] <Lcvette> Bend, feed, rotate, bend, repeat
[00:32:38] <hazzy-m> It realy does!
[00:33:08] <hazzy-m> we have talked about running it with LCNC and a custom GUI
[00:35:24] <hazzy-m> that was an old vid, the PLC was in a tuba-ware, and he'd bring it with him almost everywhere and work on progarming it for the next run of parts while he waited to pick up the kids etc.
[00:35:40] <hazzy-m> he even brought it to class once LOL
[00:39:31] <Lcvette> Lol... That's awesome
[00:42:01] <hazzy-m> I'll probably be going out there this weekend, I'll try to get some better pics of the bender and the specs
[00:42:21] <Lcvette> Cool yeah
[00:42:31] <Lcvette> And some dimensions
[00:43:01] <hazzy-m> yes, your like me, space is at a premium
[00:44:03] <hazzy-m> JT has a real nice compact bender/expander combo machine, might be all you need
[00:44:29] <hazzy-m> are you thinking exhaust work?
[00:45:00] <Lcvette> Mandrel bending is all we use in performance
[00:45:23] <Lcvette> Those type machines are generally crush benders
[00:45:34] <hazzy-m> they are, yeah
[00:46:05] <hazzy-m> hey, do you know anything about panoz motor sports?
[00:47:05] <Lcvette> Yup
[00:47:22] <Lcvette> They are more track
[00:47:35] <Lcvette> Road course
[00:49:51] <hazzy-m> This guy was one of their chassis and powertrain design engineers in the 90s, worked a lot on the esperante, and had a few of the pre-production cars until recently
[00:50:11] <Lcvette> Sweet
[00:50:36] <hazzy-m> that bender was originally purchased by panoz, lol
[00:51:53] * hazzy-m eats a stale cookie and heads to bed
[00:52:00] <hazzy-m> night man!
[00:53:36] <Lcvette> Sorry I am looking down the house myself to go to bed
[00:53:39] <Lcvette> Night man

[08:27:02] <jt-m[m]> hazzy: should the g5x_index be in the status.py of datachannel like the rest so you can get the text like G54 etc?
[08:41:10] <jt-m[m]> and status:gcodes I think needs to be in there... I can work on that
[08:49:28] <Not-e6c6> [02qtpyvcp] 07jethornton pushed 031 commit to 03DataChannel [+0/-0/±1] 13https://git.io/fh5C0

[10:44:57] <jthornton> I figure it's better to have everything along with some examples in the tutorial section
[10:50:25] <hazzy-m> yes, that makes sense
[10:51:04] <hazzy-m> these docs are going to be better than the LCNC docs if you keep up like this, LOL
[10:51:41] <jthornton> I rather like doing sphinx documentation now
[10:51:56] <jthornton> we will have some of the best docs around for sure
[10:57:06] <Not-e6c6> [02qtpyvcp] 07KurtJacobson pushed 031 commit to 03DataChannel [+0/-0/±1] 13https://git.io/fh5lI

[12:07:00] <Lcvette> sweet!!
[12:10:47] <roguish[m]> Lcvette: did you get your touch screen working again?
[12:10:56] <Lcvette> yup
[12:11:04] <Lcvette> got rid of the beep too thanks to jeff
[12:12:09] <roguish[m]> cool. i'm going to try and get mine going too. no an exact elo clone. the touch works but the axes are backwards and reversed.
[12:12:43] <Lcvette> are you using the elo drivers?
[12:13:01] <roguish[m]> no. galax drivers.
[12:13:13] <Lcvette> ah no clue how to help ya
[12:13:26] <Lcvette> we couldn't figure out the reversed axis issue
[12:13:38] <Lcvette> had to go back to the other driver that had them correct
[12:13:38] <roguish[m]> which calibration/configuration app did you use?
[12:13:57] <Lcvette> 2.5
[12:14:21] <roguish[m]> i've had it work correctly, so i'm pretty sure I can getting right again.
[12:14:38] <Lcvette> good deal
[12:14:52] <roguish[m]> hey all my project parts from china are shipping soon.
[12:14:53] <Lcvette> any reason you didn't opt for the elo?
[12:15:19] <roguish[m]> bought it a couple years ago from Monoprice.
[12:15:30] <Lcvette> gotcha
[12:16:25] <roguish[m]> only 15". i'll keep an eye on ebay for a larger one.
[12:17:16] <Lcvette> https://www.ebay.com
[12:17:48] <Lcvette> these are pretty much brand new condition
[12:18:27] <Lcvette> and ship packaged well enough to be dragged across country and arrive in great shape
[12:19:35] <hazzy-m> they could have been drop shipped without a parachute the way they were packed, lol
[12:20:33] <roguish[m]> wow, nice, and inexpensive too
[12:21:21] <hazzy-m> the one I got looks brand new, not even any dust in it, much less a scratch
[12:22:11] <Lcvette> same here as well as all my other buddies who ordered from them, every one of the monitors looked pretty much brand new
[12:22:13] <roguish[m]> hazzy, you jumped on the deal too?
[12:22:29] <Lcvette> this is the second batch of them
[12:22:59] <Lcvette> between people in here and a group of buddies on skype who are machinists we bought up 17 of them
[12:24:05] <hazzy-m> hohohoh, you should be getting a commission
[12:24:59] <Lcvette> seriously
[12:40:35] <roguish[m]> ok, just pulled ther trigger.
[12:41:02] <Lcvette> lol
[12:41:05] <Lcvette> we will be the elo brigade

[13:34:14] <Lcvette> Whoohoo
[13:34:34] <Lcvette> I just didn't the morning derusting the machine
[13:34:40] <Lcvette> Spent

[13:35:54] <Lcvette> I sprayed it down last night and did a first wipe them sprayed again and let soak overnight
[13:35:58] <Lcvette> Worked well
[13:37:27] <hazzy-m> glad it cleaned up well, nothing more sad than a rusty new machine
[13:38:43] <Lcvette> The pours of the table invisible to the eye, continue to leave rusty residue if you keep saying with wd40
[13:38:49] <Lcvette> Pores

[13:40:46] <Lcvette> Then seal with something to so it from resurfacing for a while until I have coolant running routinely
[13:44:35] <hazzy-m> bosheild T9 is good stuff for storage, but its a pain to get off again
