[00:20:04] <Lcvette> Sweet! So you can change the column headers and stuff?
[00:20:50] <Lcvette> Is it on the fly? Or in the designer?
[00:27:27] <TurBoss> should be in designer
[00:48:23] <Not-e6c6> [02qtpyvcp] 07KurtJacobson created tag 03v0.1.16 - 13https://git.io/fhCou

[00:58:09] <Lcvette> Hurray!!!
[00:58:17] <Lcvette> :D
[00:58:43] <Lcvette> 🐼🐼🐼
[01:02:00] <hazzy-m> LoL
[01:02:12] <hazzy-m> The fu is strong
[01:12:23] <Lcvette> Mui strongly
[08:39:07] <Not-e6c6> [02qtpyvcp] 07jethornton pushed 031 commit to 03DataChannel [+0/-0/±1] 13https://git.io/fh5KO
[08:39:08] <Not-e6c6> [02qtpyvcp] 07jethornton 03601deed - DOC: status tutorial done
[08:42:56] <Lcvette> hurray!!
[08:48:16] <JT-Shop> DataChannel Rock On
[08:48:36] <Lcvette> whoo hoo!!
[08:49:43] <JT-Shop> that was so long I had to add links lol
[08:52:18] <Lcvette> so that status data list is the "key" for the rules?
[08:54:27] <JT-Shop> the channels yes
[08:54:48] <Lcvette> nice!
[08:55:28] <Lcvette> where is the docs located actually?
[08:55:59] <Lcvette> i was looking the other day and couldn't find them, guessing its not in the git because i went all through there
[08:56:05] <JT-Shop> to get the one I just pushed checkout DataChannel and in docs run make html
[08:56:58] <Lcvette> https://qtpyvcp.kcjengr.com
[08:57:00] <Lcvette> here?
[09:00:40] <Lcvette> oh you mean checkout from kraken
[09:00:41] <Lcvette> lol
[09:00:58] <Lcvette> i thought you meant "go checkout the docs page"
[09:01:01] <Lcvette> lol
[09:02:58] <jthornton> yea
[09:03:25] <jthornton> you have to checkout then build
[09:04:14] <jthornton> open a terminal in qtpyvcp/docs and do make html and the html docs for that branch is in docs/build/html
[09:04:27] * jthornton goes to start a fire in the shop
[09:04:45] <Lcvette> perfect doing now!
[09:04:47] <Lcvette> thanks JT
[09:21:31] <jthornton> let me know what you think of the status tutorial
[09:21:43] * jthornton goes to pick up chicken poop now
[09:34:35] * Lcvette sent a long message: < https://matrix.org >
[09:40:10] <jt-m[m]> pip install sphinx sphinx_rtd_theme mock
[09:40:37] <jt-m[m]> if you have not built the docs before you need to do the above
[09:42:05] <Lcvette> was i suppoosed to do that inside the same window?
[09:43:04] * Lcvette sent a long message: < https://matrix.org >
[09:43:23] <Lcvette> i did it in a main terminal window
[09:43:33] <Lcvette> it installed
[09:43:41] <Lcvette> but still same message when i try to make docs
[09:43:52] <Lcvette> i'll try installing in docs folder
[09:44:33] <jthornton> did you open a new terminal?
[09:45:07] <jthornton> IIRC if you have a terminal open then install something it does not know about that
[09:45:15] <Lcvette> working now
[09:45:28] <jthornton> awesome
[09:45:34] <Lcvette> had to install in the docs folder
[09:45:41] <Lcvette> terminal
[09:45:54] <jthornton> odd, I don't think I did that
[09:45:55] <Lcvette> did not worik installing in the main terminal
[09:47:42] <jthornton> open a terminal in your home directory and do sphinx-quickstart -h
[09:50:00] * Lcvette sent a long message: < https://matrix.org >
[09:51:09] <Lcvette> im digging the updasted riot
[09:54:26] <Lcvette> im loving the tutorial of the rules!!!
[09:54:39] <Lcvette> that was very much needed!!
[09:59:41] <Lcvette> jthornton: this is just fantastic!
[10:05:41] <jthornton> thanks
[10:10:24] <Lcvette> but now that you made the docs so nice and understandable, when you get to the sections hazzy wrote ..... it gets wierd
[10:10:25] <Lcvette> lol
[10:14:20] <Lcvette> i think sometimes hazzy's explanation thought process excludes details he assumes the reader may know
[10:15:04] <Lcvette> which can make the instructions much more confusing
[10:20:57] <jthornton> that's what happens when you enter the programmers zone which is similar to the twilight zone lol
[10:25:34] <Lcvette> yeah i noticed that
[10:25:43] <Lcvette> lol... he admits it freely
[10:27:06] <Lcvette> when he first finished the rules editor he was so excited, and asked me to try it out
[10:27:54] <Lcvette> i remember i went in and was completely lost becvause i had no reference to what was what and he had to drip feed me the information because there was no "key" to how to use it or where toget the data to use it from
[10:28:08] <Lcvette> i think now you have created that data key
[10:29:19] <Lcvette> i think he just isn't used to taking his brain out of high gear to explain things to the non programmer type
[10:30:25] <Lcvette> speak of the devil
[10:30:30] <Lcvette> lol
[10:31:02] <Lcvette> were your ears burning Hazzy?
[10:31:05] <hazzy-m> LoL
[10:31:09] <hazzy-m> Morning!
[10:31:12] <Lcvette> morning
[10:32:28] <JT-Shop> morning
[10:34:55] <Lcvette> hazzy, the tool table is working great!
[10:35:09] <Lcvette> i also just noticed that the tool number issue is fixed
[11:09:32] <hazzy-m> Hurray!
[11:09:38] <Lcvette> hurray!
[11:11:09] <Lcvette> oops just found an issue
[11:11:41] <Lcvette> seems when the tool table in the window fills up, it won't allow additional tools to be added
[11:12:11] <hazzy-m> only 100 tools are alowd at the moment
[11:12:22] <hazzy-m> could that be what your noticing?
[11:13:35] <Lcvette> yes
[11:13:38] <Lcvette> but
[11:14:03] <Lcvette> i only had a tool 100 named in there, not 100 actual tools
[11:14:33] <hazzy-m> hmm, you should be able to have 100 entries
[11:15:33] * Lcvette uploaded an image: image.png (66KB) < https://matrix.org >
[11:15:44] <Lcvette> 15 entries
[11:16:10] <Lcvette> once you name one of them 100, the add tool button ceases to add an entry line when pressed
[11:16:35] <Lcvette> probably something in the wording of the table rule?
[11:17:11] <hazzy-m> your right, that is a bug
[11:17:23] <Lcvette> i'll add it to glo
[11:17:34] <roguish[m]> is it the literal '100' or possibly the 3 digits?
[11:18:39] * hazzy-m sent a long message: < https://matrix.org >
[11:18:39] <Lcvette> it won't allow a tool numbered higher than 100 either
[11:18:40] <hazzy-m> that is the culprit '
[11:19:07] <Lcvette> which should probably be reqorded
[11:19:12] <Lcvette> reworded
[11:19:33] <Lcvette> can it be set by pockets?
[11:19:55] <Lcvette> that way you can have any tool number but the number of entries is limited by the pocket count?
[11:20:16] <hazzy-m> yes, that it a much better idea
[11:20:24] <Lcvette> yup
[11:20:26] <hazzy-m> maybefor now I should limit the pockets to 56
[11:20:31] <hazzy-m> to match the LCNC limit
[11:20:36] <Lcvette> yeah
[11:21:00] <Lcvette> is there a limit to the number of tools?
[11:21:10] <hazzy-m> no
[11:21:11] <Lcvette> or just pockets?
[11:21:35] <Lcvette> ok then yeah i would limit pockets
[11:21:41] <Lcvette> but not tool numbers
[11:22:07] <Lcvette> if there is a way to allow the entry of more tools but without a pocket assignment that would be helpful
[11:23:24] <Lcvette> in that design you could have your entire tool library installed
[11:24:00] <Lcvette> and then the machine would assign pockets when the tools were loaded in the machine
[11:24:28] <Lcvette> or wait i think i remember now
[11:24:50] <Lcvette> there are only 56 locations for offsets to be reserved
[11:24:56] <Lcvette> is that correct?
[11:25:21] <Lcvette> i always get confused when we get into the tool table area
[11:25:41] <Lcvette> RENE!
[11:25:43] <Lcvette> lol
[12:06:03] <jthornton> 56 tools is the limit in the tool table but the numbers can be anything
[12:19:50] <JT-Shop> The maximum number of entries in the tool table is 56. The maximum tool and pocket number is 99999
[12:20:03] <JT-Shop> http://linuxcnc.org
[12:21:00] <hazzy-m> JT-Shop: Thanks! I will make to TT consistant with that
[12:37:03] <Lcvette> hazzy, i have a thought
[12:37:51] <Lcvette> i know linuxcnc currently cannot use a database for the tool table
[12:38:27] <Lcvette> but would it be possible to have an external tool library in the gui that you could import tools to the tool table from?
[12:38:38] <roguish[m]> JT-Shop: hey, i'm trying to make a simple DRO display gui. going thru the tutorial. what's the best approach to layout a page with labels and DRO widgets, all evenly spaced and aligned? can I put a Table in and place things in the cells?
[12:39:57] <Lcvette> in otherwords, for those who may have an extensive tool library, they could have that large library that could be either imported or exported to and from cam software and then used also to import tools from to the linuxcnc tool table
[12:40:18] <Lcvette> roguish: it depends on what you want it to look like
[12:40:27] <Lcvette> you can use a table
[12:40:31] <hazzy-m> Lcvette: yes, not only would be be possible, it would be quite easy to do
[12:40:45] <hazzy-m> roguish: or a gridlayout
[12:41:10] <Lcvette> you can also use a widget or frame etc and give it layout properties
[12:41:29] <Lcvette> this is where you will need to play with it to figure out your style and how you want it to look
[12:41:58] <Lcvette> you will want to do some reading on the properties of frames, widgets, layouts, etc to find which have the properties you may want to use
[12:42:44] <Lcvette> hazzy, that may be a great solution in the time being until a true database driven tool table is completed
[12:43:04] <Lcvette> that way you don't have to manually enter tool information if its a tool not in your 56
[12:43:56] <Lcvette> and if you have an export button to export stored data such as the offsets and what not then once captured it should go into the library file and be accessible when recalled later
[13:02:47] <Not-e6c6> [02qtpyvcp] 07KurtJacobson pushed 035 commits to 03master [+0/-0/±9] 13https://git.io/fh51C
[13:02:49] <Not-e6c6> [02qtpyvcp] 07Lcvette 03df9eab3 - added man/auto/mdi buttons to customs page
[13:02:50] <Not-e6c6> [02qtpyvcp] 07KurtJacobson 03dabebbf - BUG: ToolTable - allow setting negative numbers for diameter and offsets
[13:02:52] <Not-e6c6> [02qtpyvcp] 07KurtJacobson 0391567b2 - BUG: ToolTable - allow tool numbers up to 99999, but limit entries to 56
[13:02:53] <Not-e6c6> [02qtpyvcp] ... and 2 more commits.
[13:03:27] <pcw_home> Does a negative diameter tool allow you to add metal?
[13:04:31] <Not-e6c6> [02qtpyvcp] 07KurtJacobson pushed 031 commit to 03gh-pages [+394/-0/±0] 13https://git.io/fh51W
[13:04:32] <Not-e6c6> [02qtpyvcp] 07traviscibot 03d14fab9 - Deploy kcjengr/qtpyvcp to github.com/kcjengr/qtpyvcp.git:gh-pages
[13:05:18] <hazzy-m> pcw_home I wish! I use negative dia for wear compensation
[13:05:24] <Lcvette> pcw_home: yes
[13:05:26] <Lcvette> lol
[13:08:29] <pcw_home> Is there a wear offset in addition to the basic diameter?
[13:12:19] <Lcvette> i think you would use the x offset or y offset?
[13:13:01] <hazzy-m> Lcvette: that would shift the whole toolpath
[13:13:49] <Lcvette> ah
[13:14:06] <hazzy-m> pcw_home: no there is not. I usualy program using tool radius comp, but with the basic diameter of the tool set to 0.0000, then I can tweak the tool diameter to get the part dead on
[13:15:07] <hazzy-m> another QtPyVCP VP in the wild: https://github.com
[13:15:10] <hazzy-m> :)
[13:16:31] <roguish[m]> there are controllers that incorporate wears offsets, but they are much more complicated/sophisiticated. == expensive
[13:17:47] <hazzy-m> well, really all you'd need to do is subtract the wear offset from the diameter offset, so I think it would be easy to implement in LCNC
[13:17:47] <roguish[m]> hazzy, to display the ferror? can
[13:18:27] <roguish[m]> can't use the DRO widget, so StatusLabel? the how to hook it to the ferror?
[13:20:09] <hazzy-m> use a StatusLabel and set the rules chan to `status:joint[0].ferror_current`
[13:20:58] <hazzy-m> and then format that value int he expression with something like `"%1.4f" % ch[0]`
[13:21:30] <hazzy-m> and set the rules property to `text`
[13:22:29] <hazzy-m> I think there is an feeror label in the status-labels.ui in the example folder
[13:24:17] <roguish[m]> yes, there is thx
[13:42:40] <roguish[m]> hazzy, how can i run my DRO at the same time as another gui?
[13:42:56] <TurBoss> Hello
[13:45:39] <hazzy-m> you can launch is using `qtpyvcp --ini=/path/to/ini /path/to/your/dro.ui`
[13:45:43] <Not-e6c6> [02qtpyvcp] 07KurtJacobson published 03v0.1.14 | v0.1.14 - 13https://git.io/fh5Ml
[13:47:52] <TurBoss> new release!
[13:48:28] <hazzy-m> old release, lol
[13:48:32] <TurBoss> :O
[13:48:46] <hazzy-m> Travis was failing to build the releases, so now I am catching up by hand
[13:48:47] <Lcvette> Hurray!
[13:48:49] <hazzy-m> lol
[13:49:30] * Lcvette uploaded an image: image.png (29KB) < https://matrix.org >
[13:49:31] <hazzy-m> I set travis to spam here on fail, so we should know next time
[13:49:41] <Lcvette> probage?
[13:49:48] <Lcvette> :O
[13:49:56] <hazzy-m> yes, TurBoss did that!
[13:50:07] <Lcvette> hurray
[13:50:08] <TurBoss> oh
[13:50:22] <TurBoss> i did it?
[13:50:28] <TurBoss> ah true
[13:50:30] <TurBoss> for JT
[13:53:18] <hazzy-m> TurBoss: You caught up and beat Lcvette on num commits!
[13:53:18] <hazzy-m> https://github.com
[13:53:19] <hazzy-m> LOL
[13:53:35] <TurBoss> yes?
[13:53:38] <TurBoss> wow
[13:53:50] <TurBoss> ahahhahaha
[13:53:55] <Lcvette> Lcvette loses
[13:54:00] <Lcvette> :(
[13:54:04] <TurBoss> :)
[13:54:06] <hazzy-m> Lcvette: has been being lazy
[13:54:10] <hazzy-m> hehe
[13:54:25] <Lcvette> lcvette is waiting on hazzy
[13:54:34] <Lcvette> for probe sim
[13:54:34] <TurBoss> :X
[13:54:44] <Lcvette> :O
[13:54:53] <Lcvette> 😃
[13:55:02] <hazzy-m> Yes, I need to get on that so you can work on the probe subs
[13:55:17] <Lcvette> yup
[13:55:21] <Lcvette> can't do much else
[13:55:46] <Lcvette> think its best to wait until the rest of the back end is completed to do any more front end work
[13:56:01] <Lcvette> exacept to work on new things for existing gui's
[13:56:10] <Lcvette> fixes, add ons
[13:56:11] <Lcvette> etc
[13:56:20] <Lcvette> otherwise its likely to chsasnge
[13:57:01] <hazzy-m> yes, no point in having to redo stuff
[14:00:34] <Lcvette> lcvette added a tab page on the tooling page for the tool library table
[14:00:43] <Lcvette> and added buttons for import tool and export tool
[14:00:53] <Lcvette> but somehow broke the tool table
[14:00:55] <Lcvette> :O

[14:08:41] <JT-Shop> hazzy-m: you have a build bot thing going?
[14:09:31] <Roguish_VM> hazzy: here's my command to get past the chooser: qtpyvcp --ini=/home/noel/linuxcnc/configs/sim.qtpyvcp/xyz.ini --vcp=/home/noel/qtpyvcp/examples/mini/Mini.ui
[14:09:43] <Roguish_VM> not working. can not get past the chooser.

[14:15:59] <roguish[m]> ok, starts but is maximized
[14:16:13] <TurBoss> yeah all vcp are now fullscreen
[14:16:17] <TurBoss> duno why
[14:16:24] <roguish[m]> not good.
[14:16:30] <hazzy-m> JT-Shop: yes, the buildbot build the documentation, and for taged commits generates the change logs, builds the dist files debs, and publishes a release to PyPi and GitHub
[14:16:42] <hazzy-m> roguish: f11

[14:18:53] <Not-e6c6> [02qtpyvcp] 07KurtJacobson 03deadca2 - SIM: don't maximize and fullscreen by default
[14:20:47] <Not-e6c6> [02qtpyvcp] 07KurtJacobson pushed 031 commit to 03gh-pages [+394/-0/±0] 13https://git.io/fh5DT

[14:21:26] <TurBoss> Deploy kcjengr/qtpyvcp to github.com/kcjengr/qtpyvcp.git:gh-pages <--- url is broken
[14:22:29] <hazzy-m> heh, so it is
[14:22:30] <hazzy-m> hmmm
[14:23:50] <hazzy-m> I don;t think I have any way of fixing that, since that message comes from the deploy bot
[14:24:33] <Lcvette> hazzy, take a look at the tool table
[14:24:36] <Lcvette> its broken
[14:24:53] <hazzy-m> :(
[14:24:55] <hazzy-m> how?
[14:25:02] <Lcvette> i don't know what i did to breake
[14:25:10] <Lcvette> i moved it
[14:25:19] <Lcvette> to a tab widget
[14:25:19] <hazzy-m> ah, chekcing
[14:25:37] <Lcvette> actually i morphed the layout it was in into a tabbed widget
[14:25:43] <Lcvette> and after that it stopped working
[14:26:05] <hazzy-m> I forgot about the lorum ipsum tools, lol
[14:26:17] <Lcvette> i dunno what that is
[14:27:57] <Roguish_VM> hazzy-m, how do i get this new pushed non-maximized version? i did a pull in gitkraken and it still maximizes.
[14:28:23] <hazzy-m> BTW, Reread and Reload are the same think, si I guess we only need one of thise buttons ...
[14:29:17] <hazzy-m> you may need to reinstall using `pip install -e .` since you need to update your home/linuxcnc/sim.qtpyvcp configs
[14:29:38] <Lcvette> ok, i will delete re-read
[14:29:41] <Lcvette> ?
[14:29:43] <hazzy-m> you also also just copy the contents of the sim/ folder into your sim.qtpyvcp
[14:30:11] <hazzy-m> Lcvette: Ok, I will do it while I am fixing the other stuff
[14:30:30] <Lcvette> ok
[14:30:53] * jthornton needs to work on a tool table tutorial now that it works nicely
[14:31:56] <Not-e6c6> [02qtpyvcp] 07KurtJacobson pushed 031 commit to 03master [+0/-0/±1] 13https://git.io/fh5DG
[14:31:58] <Not-e6c6> [02qtpyvcp] 07KurtJacobson 0396c9056 - VCP: ProbeBasic - fix tooltable slots
[14:32:41] <jthornton> I think there is a couple of things left to do in DataChannel status.py...
[14:33:51] <hazzy-m> what do you have in mind?
[14:34:01] <hazzy-m> I think we are getting close to merging DataChanel!!
[14:34:05] <Not-e6c6> [02qtpyvcp] 07KurtJacobson pushed 031 commit to 03gh-pages [+394/-0/±0] 13https://git.io/fh5Dc
[14:34:06] <Not-e6c6> [02qtpyvcp] 07traviscibot 03d65356a - Deploy kcjengr/qtpyvcp to github.com/kcjengr/qtpyvcp.git:gh-pages
[14:34:31] <jthornton> just looking, I saw a couple of things missing
[14:36:16] <jthornton> kinematics_type has some constants
[14:37:15] <jthornton> and motion_type
[14:37:54] <hazzy-m> ah yes, forgot about kins type
[14:38:04] <hazzy-m> I think motion_type is in there
[14:38:52] <jthornton> state, task_mode and task_state
[14:39:07] <jthornton> motion_type is in master but not datachannel
[14:39:30] <jthornton> I agree we need to merge DataChannel!
[14:40:07] <jthornton> did you look at the status tutorial? which I think needs to be in a different section...
[14:40:46] <hazzy-m> https://github.com
[14:40:54] <hazzy-m> just building the docs
[14:41:18] <hazzy-m> I isntalled the new version of the RTD theme, its nice!
[14:41:32] <hazzy-m> more contrast on the side nav
[14:43:23] <hazzy-m> jthornton: docs looks fantastic!
[14:43:33] <hazzy-m> I like the way you added the sections and links
[14:43:54] <hazzy-m> makes them redily linkable `/status_labels.html#feed-hold-enabled`
[14:44:17] <hazzy-m> which makes me think I should add a button to the rules editer to open the documentation in browser ...
[14:48:58] <Lcvette> hazzy, that would be great
[14:49:15] <Lcvette> or a flyout choose from list
[14:50:23] <hazzy-m> yes, that could work too
[14:50:32] <Lcvette> probably be better
[14:50:42] <Lcvette> especially if its a set list
[14:55:01] <Lcvette> depending on how user friendly you imagined this being, a statement builder would be ideal
[14:55:27] <Roguish_VM> Error: Permission denied: "/home/noel/qtpyvcp/examples/probe_basic/probe_basic_vertical_ui.py
[14:55:28] <Lcvette> understanding the syntax is where most are going to have the most issues
[14:56:01] <Lcvette> what are you trying to do?
[14:56:19] <hazzy-m> hmm
[15:03:53] <jthornton> that would be fantastic to be able to open the docs from the rules editor right to the page
[15:05:29] <jthornton> hazzy-m: it would help if I was actually looking at status.py and not postions.py lol
[15:05:57] <hazzy-m> hahaha
[15:10:10] <Lcvette> hurray tool table is fixed
[15:10:25] <hazzy-m> hurray! I didm't test it, lol
[15:10:32] <Lcvette> works!
[15:12:31] <Lcvette> still some bugs
[15:12:34] <Lcvette> it just shot down on me
[15:14:15] * Lcvette sent a long message: < https://matrix.org >
[15:15:03] <hazzy-m> whoa, that is not good
[15:15:08] <Lcvette> where are the log files?
[15:15:33] <hazzy-m> where it says, lol
[15:15:40] <hazzy-m> /home/chris/linuxcnc_debug.txt

[17:17:37] <roguish[m]> hey Lcvette, what app do you use to record a short video of the screen?
[17:25:19] <Lcvette> vokoscreen
[17:25:36] * hazzy-m just finished an afternoon snack of stilton and port
[17:26:04] <Lcvette> lush
[17:26:06] <Lcvette> lol
[17:26:55] <Lcvette> lcvette has some homemade vegetable beef soup on the stove warming up
[17:26:59] <Lcvette> its fantastic

[17:46:03] <Lcvette> you fixed window position and size arguement?
[17:47:11] <hazzy-m> yep
[17:47:28] <hazzy-m> roguish: broke it
[17:47:30] <hazzy-m> JK
[17:47:39] <TurBoss> hehe
[17:47:46] <TurBoss> not me hurray
[17:47:53] <Lcvette> was it in probe basic?
[17:49:58] <hazzy-m> TurBoss: LOL
[17:50:09] <Lcvette> so what kind of table can be imported into qtpyvcp?
[17:50:24] <hazzy-m> tooltable?
[17:50:34] <Lcvette> tool library
[17:50:45] <Lcvette> the one with ALL the tools
[17:50:48] <hazzy-m> json is the easyest
[17:51:20] <Lcvette> ok, let me rephrase that
[17:51:29] <Lcvette> what kind of a table do i put in probe basic?
[17:51:47] <Lcvette> special needs table or just make a table widget?
[17:51:59] <Lcvette> and it can import?
[17:52:07] <Lcvette> or just copy the tool table?
[17:52:25] <hazzy-m> well, that will take some planning
[17:52:31] <Lcvette> and instead of attaching it to lcnc we attach it to the tool table and to some import export buttons
[17:54:00] <Lcvette> probably should have a few option for importing and exporting if possible for different formats and cam softwares
[17:55:26] <Lcvette> csv, json, ?
[17:55:30] <Lcvette> does that make sense?
[18:01:27] <Not-e6c6> [02qtpyvcp] 07KurtJacobson pushed 031 commit to 03DataChannel [+0/-0/±2] 13https://git.io/fh59G

[18:02:00] <Not-e6c6> [02qtpyvcp] 07KurtJacobson 038338308 - pass channel instance to chan methods
[18:02:18] <hazzy-m> Lcvette: yes it does
[18:03:19] <Lcvette> maybe could have predefined filters for various cam programs to capture the correct data
[18:03:54] <Lcvette> not sure if that would need to be done outside of the import function or not
[18:04:11] <Lcvette> because i don't know what is importing it
[18:04:18] <Lcvette> guess that is what im asking
[18:04:23] <Lcvette> what is importing it?
[18:04:46] <Lcvette> ie i know when i import something into excel im importing into excel
[18:05:07] <Lcvette> but im not sure what table software is used when importing into the pyqtvcp
[18:05:19] <Lcvette> if i did i could look into it some?
[18:07:09] <hazzy-m> we have you write our own importer and probably strore the data in a QStandardItemModel
[18:07:40] <hazzy-m> you = to
[18:08:14] <Lcvette> ok I will write an importer
[18:08:21] <Lcvette> :O
[18:08:23] <Lcvette> lol
[18:08:26] <Lcvette> :D
[18:09:08] <hazzy-m> "we have you write our own"
[18:09:17] <hazzy-m> HOHOHOH
[18:09:17] <Lcvette> alexa, how do i write an importer?
[18:09:17] <hazzy-m> I mean we have to, lol
[18:09:44] <Lcvette> hahaha

[18:09:47] <Not-e6c6> [02qtpyvcp] 07KurtJacobson 0356cf371 - remove extra evaluation of chan exp
[18:10:43] <roguish[m]> hazzy, i see in the status Status Data Plugin there is a 'velocity'
[18:11:02] <roguish[m]> what velocity is this? axis, joint, ????
[18:11:22] <roguish[m]> how can I get an axis or joint velotiy?
[18:12:17] <hazzy-m> it is not clear, but I think it is actualy the SPEED of the control point (i.e. the tool)
[18:12:31] <hazzy-m> its not a velocisty as it has not direction vector
[18:13:57] <hazzy-m> you can get the joing vel by using the `status:joint[0].velocity` channel
[18:15:32] <hazzy-m> hmm, I can't get status:velocity to give a non zero value ..
[18:18:27] <jthornton> there is a comment in the linuxcnc doc that it is defined but the behavior is unknown or something to that effect
[18:21:51] <Not-e6c6> [02qtpyvcp] 07KurtJacobson pushed 031 commit to 03DataChannel [+0/-0/±1] 13https://git.io/fh59o
[18:21:53] <Not-e6c6> [02qtpyvcp] 07KurtJacobson 03d6f74ef - tooltable - load on start up
[18:22:37] <hazzy-m> well, I think DataChannels is fully functional, now to convert the example UIs and we should be ready to merge
[18:25:07] <jthornton> or make them separate and convert
[18:26:31] <jthornton> I think I'm finished with status_labels.rst but have not pushed yet... chaecking data :(
[18:26:44] <Lcvette> outstanding!
[18:27:00] <jthornton> wow I've only used 0.1GB of data so far today!
[18:28:38] <jthornton> that means I'm only 1.6GB in the hole today
[18:31:05] <jthornton> hazzy-m: how are you running the examples while in dev mode?
[18:31:48] <hazzy-m> probe basic etc. or do you mean the plain ui ones?
[18:32:22] <hazzy-m> I just run them as usual, linuxcnc sim/xyz.ini
[18:35:56] -!- pcw_home has quit [Ping timeout: 240 seconds]
[18:38:22] <jthornton> yea when you uninstall the regular install it removes them so I guess just copy them back
[18:39:33] <hazzy-m> ah, I run the sim configs directaly from the qtpyvcp dir
[18:40:02] <jthornton> ah ok
[18:40:11] <jthornton> mini seems to work ok on DataChannel
[18:40:23] <hazzy-m> we probably should have some way to make them install even then using an editable install
[18:40:39] <hazzy-m> great!
[18:42:37] <jthornton> brender has some issues, I'll work on that one
[18:43:23] <Lcvette> how about the probe basic?
[18:43:25] <Lcvette> :O
[18:44:50] <hazzy-m> its not very important
[18:44:54] <hazzy-m> JK
[18:44:56] <hazzy-m> lol
[18:45:46] <Lcvette> 😞
[18:48:08] -!- pcw_home has joined #hazzy
[18:49:04] * Lcvette uploaded an image: image.png (70KB) < https://matrix.org >
[18:51:23] <hazzy-m> lololol
[18:52:24] <roguish[m]> hazzy. getting closer. added joint velocities.
[18:52:32] <hazzy-m> excellent
[18:53:42] * roguish[m] uploaded an image: image.png (511KB) < https://matrix.org >
[18:55:00] <roguish[m]> in my axis install. i calc an rms velocity in hal. and display the signal in a gladevcp.
[18:55:26] <roguish[m]> how can I display the hal signal here?
[18:55:50] <roguish[m]> without writing a boat load of python
[18:56:17] <hazzy-m> your getting ahead of me there. There is an espermental HAL branch, but it needs to be reworked for the DataChannels
[18:56:27] <roguish[m]> rolf.
[18:56:52] * Lcvette uploaded an image: image.png (50KB) < https://matrix.org >
[18:56:56] <hazzy-m> then that is done you will use a chan `hal:my.pin.name`
[18:56:57] <Lcvette> time out for rougish
[18:57:04] <Lcvette> lol
[18:57:09] <hazzy-m> Lcvette: hahaha
[18:57:42] <roguish[m]> ok. no prob. let me know and I test it out for you.
[18:59:25] <roguish[m]> about 18 months ago, i was workiing on a Disney Imagineering project with guys in LA at Disney. they use SLACK. very similar to this RIOT. anyway, they posted more gifs and shit than real communication.
[19:00:30] <Lcvette> sounds like a fun crowd
[19:10:13] <jthornton> got brender down to a combo box error
[19:10:24] <Lcvette> nice!
[19:10:58] <hazzy-m> Imagineering has some very talented engineers
[19:11:29] <hazzy-m> jthornton: great! Just about got that sorted here, bush your changes and I'll fix the box
[19:11:58] <hazzy-m> that is not a probem in brender, but in the actions
[19:13:35] <jthornton> most of the actions are simple fixes
[19:15:18] <hazzy-m> most of of the things are joint[m].item changing to join.0.item it seems
[19:15:20] <Not-e6c6> [02qtpyvcp] 07jethornton pushed 034 commits to 03DataChannel [+1/-0/±5] 13https://git.io/fh59p

[19:17:49] <hazzy-m> haha
[19:17:53] <jthornton> time to strap on the feed bag
[19:18:08] <hazzy-m> it was what started the whole DataCVhannel things
[19:18:25] <hazzy-m> enjoy
[19:18:59] <TurBoss> hello
[19:19:19] <TurBoss> I have to fork a project but I don't know how to name it now
[19:19:57] <TurBoss> or if I need to rename
[19:20:01] <TurBoss> not sure
[19:20:29] <TurBoss> is called 7th_heaven is in c# :D
[19:21:04] <hazzy-m> 8th_heaven of course :P
[19:21:20] <TurBoss> it has a ms-pl liccense https://github.com
[19:21:47] <TurBoss> oh limitations
[19:21:54] <TurBoss> trademark use
[19:21:57] <TurBoss> I must rename then
[19:22:17] <TurBoss> boo this is bs
[19:22:27] <TurBoss> but fine
[19:22:28] <TurBoss> :D
[19:22:29] <TurBoss> hjahahahaha
[19:23:32] <hazzy-m> "(A) No Trademark License- This license does not grant you rights to use any contributors' name, logo, or trademarks."
[19:23:54] <TurBoss> cool
[19:24:24] <hazzy-m> That means you can't use the names or logos of the controbuters, but I think you can use the same name if you wan't, I do see anything in there that would indicate you can't
[19:24:39] <hazzy-m> I DON'T*
[19:24:48] <TurBoss> ya...
[19:24:53] <TurBoss> yes
[19:25:04] <TurBoss> so new name ?
[19:25:16] <TurBoss> its a hook
[19:25:36] <TurBoss> it hooks the windows binary and manipulates syscals
[19:25:36] <hazzy-m> you don't need a new name, unless you want one
[19:25:58] <TurBoss> is to avoid confusion
[19:26:38] <TurBoss> is very interesting
[19:27:20] <TurBoss> ok xD
[19:29:10] <roguish[m]> how / what do I tie the statusLED to?
[19:30:30] <Not-e6c6> [02qtpyvcp] 07KurtJacobson pushed 032 commits to 03DataChannel [+0/-0/±2] 13https://git.io/fh5HO

[19:32:45] <hazzy-m> you can connect it to any of the status items using rules
[19:33:18] * hazzy-m uploaded an image: image.png (36KB) < https://matrix.org >
[19:33:27] <roguish[m]> thx
[19:33:28] <hazzy-m> that will turn the LED on when the machine is ON
[19:34:11] <hazzy-m> you could also connect it to the `status:join.0.homed` channel to indicate homed status etc.

[22:57:16] <Lcvette> the rule was setup for linear units and i changed it to program units

[23:04:27] <hazzy-m> like that?
[23:04:45] <hazzy-m> lol
[23:05:05] * Lcvette uploaded an image: image.png (54KB) < https://matrix.org >

[23:06:01] <Lcvette> ok
[23:06:51] <Lcvette> so does that mean data channel is merged to master?
[23:07:03] <hazzy-m> no, not yet
[23:07:45] <Lcvette> ah just going through the vcp's one by one to see how they accept the datachannel changes first
[23:07:47] <Lcvette> ?
[23:08:22] <Lcvette> shake out the bugs
[23:08:24] <hazzy-m> yes, updating all the VCPs so theywork with the new datachannels, and then merging
[23:08:32] <hazzy-m> to we are very very close now
[23:08:32] <Lcvette> gotcha
[23:09:06] <Lcvette> so if .....

[23:11:28] <hazzy-m> you are always prepared for the worst, you know the accuracy (or lack there of) of my estimates
[23:11:46] <Lcvette> lol
[23:12:05] <hazzy-m> actually tool dia and length are always in machine units, not prog untis
