[04:23:11] <silopolis[m]> Morning VCP rockers!
[04:28:21] <silopolis[m]> Amazing to follow your work and progresses along, glource animation is beautifully showing your investment and collaboration in this great project
[04:30:41] <silopolis[m]> Happy to see you kill the remaining ATC bugs and glad work has already begun on conversational, which I didn't expected that early πŸ™‚
[04:35:44] <silopolis[m]> About STMBL, we're a handful on rene-dev/stmbl gitter to be looking for drives. Rene-dev has already transmitted files to one of us to have a small batch of 4.1 (or that's 4.2?) boards made.
[04:37:58] <silopolis[m]> Prices drop at 25 units
[04:37:59] <silopolis[m]> https://files.gitter.im
[04:41:59] <silopolis[m]> Seems like IRAM can be bought for those who can't/don't want to wait for v5 release... Which is talked about for maybe 7 or 8 months.
[05:19:41] <TurBoss> I can wait that time :D
[05:19:47] <TurBoss> morning silopolis

[12:09:26] * Lcvette sent a long message: < https://matrix.org >
[12:09:32] <Lcvette> not loading
[12:09:45] <Lcvette> missing pin, is this from the halpin work?
[12:11:04] <Lcvette> silopolis: o/
[12:11:06] <Lcvette> lol
[12:11:22] <Lcvette> thats nubby's call sign
[12:11:28] <Lcvette> inside joke
[12:11:46] <silopolis[m]> Lol
[12:12:07] <Lcvette> nubby=hazzy
[12:12:43] <Lcvette> he was replacing some garage door springs and i joked to be careful because they are very dangeroud
[12:12:46] <Lcvette> dangerous
[12:12:54] <silopolis[m]> I know I silently read everything here πŸ™‚
[12:13:11] <Lcvette> told him to be careful not to lose any limbs in the process or we would call him nubby
[12:13:27] <silopolis[m]> 🀣
[12:13:29] <Lcvette> since then he now signs the hurray entrance \o/
[12:13:33] <Lcvette> with o/
[12:13:53] <Lcvette> the nubby hurray
[12:13:56] <Lcvette> o/
[12:14:02] <Lcvette> :D
[12:14:23] <silopolis[m]> K, so I'll gladly leave it to him 🎩
[12:14:37] <Lcvette> you can sign it back to him
[12:14:39] <Lcvette> :D
[12:14:46] <Lcvette> where is hazzy?
[12:43:58] <Lcvette> TurBoss: NM, its working again
[12:44:07] <Lcvette> i broke something but reversed it
[12:44:08] <Lcvette> lol
[12:44:55] <Lcvette> i was wondering where you and hazzy were working to figure out the problem so maybe i could look at it and research it perhaps?
[12:45:09] <Lcvette> need to keep my mind occupied today
[12:45:27] <Lcvette> my pops is in for a procedure and the waiting is unsettling
[12:49:55] <hazzy-m> that is no fun, I hope everything goes well
[12:50:18] <hazzy-m> we were working on the utilities/hal_qlib.py file
[12:50:24] <Lcvette> Thanks Hazzy o/
[12:50:49] <Lcvette> in the new hal branch?
[12:50:59] <hazzy-m> yes
[12:53:05] * JT[m]1 uploaded a video: database3.mp4 (21KB) < https://matrix.org >
[12:53:30] <Lcvette> \o/ wtg JT
[12:53:39] <hazzy-m> so that's what the DB is for! Nice!!!
[12:54:07] * Lcvette sent a long message: < https://matrix.org >
[12:54:08] <JT[m]1> finally got the QDataWidgetMapper sorted out
[12:54:56] <Lcvette> nice!
[12:55:20] <JT[m]1> hazzy: I have a database with all the thread info possible so for rigid tapping, floating head tapping and thread milling I can get the data needed just by selecting the thread size
[12:55:24] <Lcvette> hazzy, which section is broken?
[12:55:44] <Lcvette> thats awesome JT
[12:56:40] <JT[m]1> so for thread milling you will be able to select the class of fit you want!!!
[12:56:57] <Lcvette> very cool!
[12:57:49] <Lcvette> alot of variable to work with
[12:57:56] <Lcvette> variables
[12:58:17] * JT[m]1 no longer looks like the cover of In The Court of the Crimson King lol
[12:58:23] <Lcvette> lol
[12:58:58] <JT[m]1> alright I'm off to do some work
[12:58:58] <Lcvette> later
[13:51:36] <Lcvette> JT: queston for you
[13:51:56] <Lcvette> for the status of a button text, for single axis homing
[13:52:16] <Lcvette> would you use the status:joint.1.homed
[13:52:17] <Lcvette> ?
[13:59:50] <hazzy-m> Lcvette: yes, or you clould also using status:homed?axis=x
[13:59:53] <hazzy-m> but that does not work
[14:00:04] * hazzy-m thinks it should
[14:00:10] <Lcvette> ok
[14:00:30] <Lcvette> for some reason, its working backwards in probe basic
[14:01:08] <Lcvette> i followed the tutorial but it starts off showing the all machine referenced button text\
[14:01:45] * Lcvette uploaded an image: Screenshot_2019-04-03_14-01-31.png (30KB) < https://matrix.org >
[14:02:05] <Lcvette> this results in the button showing the machine as reference before its been referenced
[14:03:57] <silopolis[m]> @jt-m:matrix.org: funny you're working on tapping as I've been thinking about first building myself a tapping arm in perspective of all the other projects I have for my home shop.
[14:03:58] <silopolis[m]> Inspired by some arms seen on Ali* began to wonder if this could also be a first LinuxCNC project with only a spindle (bldc + encoder + gearbox) driven by a RPi and a touch LCD
[14:07:29] <silopolis[m]> Like this
[14:07:29] <silopolis[m]> https://app.alibaba.com
[14:11:57] <Lcvette> hazzy: what am i doing wrong?
[14:13:22] <silopolis[m]> @jt-m:matrix.org: panel of this one may be inspiring for a conversational tapping panel BTW
[14:15:28] <hazzy-m> Lcvette: make sure NO_FORCE_HOMING is not set in the INI
[14:15:32] <hazzy-m> (it probably is)
[14:15:44] <Lcvette> ok
[14:16:08] <hazzy-m> silopolis: that looks pretty neat
[14:16:16] <hazzy-m> ...and cheap
[14:17:42] <Lcvette> NO_FORCE_HOMING = 1
[14:18:19] <Lcvette> hazzy: im unfamiliar with this
[14:19:32] <Lcvette> Whats it supposed to be?
[14:20:57] <hazzy-m> One means you don't have to home, for machines without limits, but it makes testing in a sim faster
[14:20:58] <silopolis[m]> @hazzy:matrix.org: indeed! But for the love of making and Open source...
[14:21:08] <hazzy-m> Since you don't have to home
[14:22:06] <silopolis[m]> @hazzy and above all, learning!
[14:22:22] <hazzy-m> silopolis: agreed, I am king of spending way more to make soemthing my self than buying it lol
[14:22:34] <hazzy-m> silopolis: learning is how you justify it :D
[14:23:24] <silopolis[m]> @hazzy this will be kept secret among us 😜
[14:27:48] <Lcvette> hazzy: do i set it to 0 for it to work?
[14:27:49] <Lcvette> or?
[15:03:56] <JT[m]1> Comment it out
[15:04:02] <JT[m]1> #
[15:04:02] <hazzy-m> Yes
[15:04:51] <JT[m]1> I'm at the industrial park atm
[15:07:59] <Lcvette> hazzy: I made a xyzab.ini for probe basic
[15:08:15] <Lcvette> and found the sim_core5.hal file
[15:08:34] <Lcvette> im trying to figure out how i specify for them to be used by probe basic when launched by the launcher
[15:10:19] <Lcvette> or can i try and launch it the same way i do with the atc branch and specify the ini using the ls
[15:10:21] <Lcvette> ?
[15:39:01] <Lcvette> hazzy: I did it!!
[15:39:20] <Lcvette> made a working 5 axis sim ini with 5 axis wortking hal files!
[15:50:06] <Lcvette> hazzy: found maybe a bug
[15:51:44] <Lcvette> my prog and mach boundary buttons work but if i open a new file, it opens with program boundaries on and my button is in the off state
[15:51:46] <Lcvette> so to turn it off the button is now in the active state
[15:51:47] <Lcvette> wierd
[15:54:30] <JT[m]1> Weird
[15:57:11] <hazzy-m> Lcvette: yes, I noticed that too, some how it gets out of sync
[15:58:37] <Lcvette> i also noticed the jog buttons are not working right still in increment mode
[16:00:02] <Lcvette> jt, are your jog buttons working?
[16:00:21] <Lcvette> in increment mode?
[16:00:28] <Lcvette> maybe probe basic has old buttons
[16:25:12] <hazzy-m> no, the buttons stop joging when released
[16:36:01] <Lcvette> Is axis like that too?
[16:36:12] <Lcvette> Or is that a qtpyvcp thing
[16:38:55] <hazzy-m> it is a QtPyVCP thing, not sure if it is a bug or a feature LOL
[16:39:18] <Lcvette> Lol
[16:39:53] <hazzy-m> I've broken a few edge finders using incremental jog because there is no way to stop once you have started it, and it is easy to acumulate too many jogs
[16:40:38] <JT[m]1> Lcvette: have not tried them in a while, last time I could not get incremental to work
[16:40:45] <hazzy-m> so with they way it is now if you want to move .100" you push and hold unitll it is moved exacty .100", and if you need to stop it simply releace the button
[16:41:17] <JT[m]1> does it stop and wait for another button push?
[16:41:24] <hazzy-m> yes
[16:41:34] <JT[m]1> that's nice
[16:42:47] <hazzy-m> I think it prevents acidents, but then I mostly use MPG, so not sure if it is a pain for people that use keyboad jogging
[16:44:10] <JT[m]1> I don't use the keyboard for jogging except the plasma I have a joy pad thing so I can position the nozzle at the start of the cut
[16:46:12] <Lcvette> If your trying to just tap out thousandths on a keyboard I could see it being an issue
[16:46:44] <Lcvette> Probably good idea to fix and offer both options
[16:47:51] <hazzy-m> agreed
[16:51:05] * JT[m]1 heads out to finish moving the generator over to the new spot
[17:16:26] <TurBoss> yo is back
[17:20:53] <Lcvette> hurray!
[17:22:25] <Lcvette> \o/
[17:27:49] <Lcvette> pushed the 5 axis sims
[17:27:51] <Lcvette> :D
[17:27:55] <Lcvette> \o/
[17:27:57] <TurBoss> :O
[17:28:27] <Lcvette> just the ini and hal files for simulation
[17:28:57] <Lcvette> wasn't able to get the stuff in the tutorials to work on the home buttons because it wasn't referencing "all" axis
[17:29:02] <Lcvette> now it does
[17:29:03] <Lcvette> :D
[17:29:06] <Lcvette> hurray!
[17:29:09] <Lcvette> \o/
[17:29:19] <TurBoss> cool!
[17:29:34] <Lcvette> did you have a siesta?
[17:29:45] <TurBoss> yeah!
[17:29:52] <TurBoss> good one
[17:30:02] <Lcvette> excellent!
[17:47:45] * Lcvette uploaded an image: Screenshot_2019-04-03_17-47-09.png (344KB) < https://matrix.org >
[17:49:39] <Lcvette> machine referenced button changes now and all 5 rows of dros are doin their thing!
[17:49:40] <Lcvette> whoo hoo
[17:49:42] <Lcvette> :D
[18:11:52] <TurBoss> nice
[18:12:13] <hazzy-m> hurray!
[18:12:44] <Lcvette> lcvette learned a couple more things on QT stack overflow today too
[18:12:47] <Lcvette> :D
[18:12:59] <Lcvette> trying them out
[18:20:06] <roguish[m]> hazzy: how are you doing on packaging one of these screens, like BP_MILL, so it's close to idiot proof to install? like with a single script or something.
[18:46:50] <JT[m]1> interesting that self.mapper.currentIndexChanged fires before the change is done...
[19:44:32] <Lcvette> JT: where is that?
[19:54:27] -!- Roguish has joined #hazzy
[19:58:15] <roguish[m]> JT: hey, JT, of your gui's (bp_touch, mill_touch, _v2, and _v4) which is the most developed? which are you using on your BP?
[20:02:07] <Roguish> JT and Hazzy: error running mill_touch. http://i.imgur.com
[20:02:43] <hazzy-m> Roguish: thanks
[20:04:14] <roguish[m]> waz up with that DRO ???
[20:04:37] <hazzy-m> it needs to be updated, working on it now
[20:04:43] <hazzy-m> the VCP needs to be updated
[20:04:45] <roguish[m]> ok. thx
[20:08:23] <hazzy-m> roguish: seems ok here, you must have an old version of mill_touch
[20:13:02] <Roguish> i did the pip install as in JT's instructions, from my home directory. where the hedck shoudl I do a git pull to update?
[20:14:27] -!- biqut2 has quit [Remote host closed the connection]
[20:15:17] <hazzy-m> if you didn't clone and install then you just update using `pip install git+https://github.com/jethornton/mill_touch.git --upgrade`
[20:16:19] <Roguish> not in his instructions, but I'll try it out...
[20:17:49] <Roguish> ok, just did the 'upgrade' and still receive the same error...
[20:18:33] <hazzy-m> uninstall and reinstall
[20:18:55] <hazzy-m> `pip uninstall mill_touch` (run untill you get an error)
[20:19:12] <hazzy-m> `pip install git+https://github.com/jethornton/mill_touch.git`
[20:20:13] <Roguish> done.
[20:20:54] <Roguish> done. .. same error
[20:21:12] <hazzy-m> hmmm
[20:21:46] * hazzy-m heads down to the linux machine
[20:22:05] <Roguish> and i also did an upgrade on qtpyvcp
[20:25:14] <Roguish> just did uninstall and them clone install. same error.
[20:25:40] <Roguish> good thing i'm working on my scratch test machine.

[20:30:16] <hazzy-m> I can't reproduce, and I don't think there are even any DROWidgets used in mill_touch
[20:32:57] <roguish[m]> does that read a .yml file?
[20:33:27] <hazzy-m> yes
[20:33:51] <hazzy-m> maybe the problem it is with your estra DRO window?
[20:34:54] <hazzy-m> open it in designer and remove any Dynamic Properties for the DROWidget with the minus sign at the top of the property editer
[20:35:21] <hazzy-m> it should be obvious what to replace it with, can't remember what name changed ...
[20:36:15] <hazzy-m> if you'd like sent me your dro,ui file and I will update it for you, should be easy to do with find/replace
[20:37:44] <Lcvette> ok hazzy, pushed some sweet formatting refinements to go with the 5 axis update
[20:37:47] <Lcvette> :D
[20:37:54] <Lcvette> breakout the big monitor
[20:38:01] <Lcvette> \o/
[20:38:03] <hazzy-m> Nice!!!
[20:38:12] <hazzy-m> o/
[20:38:17] <Lcvette> lcvette is called to late dinner
[20:38:25] <Lcvette> back in a bit
[20:38:33] <hazzy-m> enjoy
[21:35:07] <Roguish> yeah, that was it. i commented out my gui and no errors.....
[21:38:24] -!- Roguish has quit [Remote host closed the connection]
[22:42:58] <Lcvette> hazzy (@kcjengr:matrix.org): did you see it?
[22:43:03] <Lcvette> O/
[22:56:41] <Lcvette> What is that drawing of hazzy?
[22:57:07] <hazzy-m> just a little adaptor for a motor
[22:57:23] <hazzy-m> replaceing a hydraulic actuator with an electric one
[23:08:47] <Lcvette> Thought you might have found a 90* great motor for an ATC carousel \o/
[23:08:53] <Lcvette> Gear
[23:09:09] <hazzy-m> i do have one!
[23:09:20] <hazzy-m> draws only 40amps lol
[23:09:38] <hazzy-m> I need to run four of them at a time ..
[23:09:47] <hazzy-m> that is a LOT of current ...
[23:10:09] <Lcvette> For what??
[23:11:00] <hazzy-m> they are actuators for a pool with a variable depth floor
[23:11:19] <hazzy-m> so you can wheel a wheelchair onto it and then lower the floor down for example
[23:11:42] <Lcvette> Ah
[23:11:51] <Lcvette> You have a variable depth pool?
[23:12:39] <hazzy-m> its for a client, it's been a really frusterating project
[23:13:52] <hazzy-m> has to be low voltage so it in the event some old person takes the covers off the actuaters and gnaws the wires they wont get hurt, but it takes a lot of power to raise it up and down, rated at 12000lbs
[23:15:09] <Lcvette> And you are switching from hydraulic?
[23:15:50] <Lcvette> Seems like hydraulic actuators would be the ideal solution there
[23:17:39] <hazzy-m> yes, the hydraulics system is great for safty etc., but they have problems with oil getting in the water
[23:19:04] <hazzy-m> the new systems are electric so I'm trying to duplicate what they use now
[23:19:16] <Lcvette> After how many years of use?
[23:20:14] <hazzy-m> this system was installed in 1998, at least that is the date code on whats left of the pump lol
[23:20:30] <Lcvette> So, there ya go
[23:20:44] <Lcvette> Seems like a reasonable life span to need a rebuild
[23:20:47] <hazzy-m> but they had oil problems fromn thevery begining
[23:21:25] <Lcvette> Good for old people skin
[23:21:38] <Lcvette> Moisturizer
[23:21:39] <Lcvette> Lol
[23:21:51] <hazzy-m> hahahaha
[23:22:00] <hazzy-m> they should use coconut oil
[23:22:01] <Lcvette> :D
[23:22:08] <hazzy-m> scented
[23:22:10] <Lcvette> There ya go
[23:22:27] <Lcvette> They'd all get laid more
[23:22:32] <hazzy-m> actually. that is an idea
[23:22:42] <hazzy-m> xD
[23:30:45] <Lcvette> Hope long are the hydraulic Rams
[23:30:50] <Lcvette> How
[23:32:08] <Lcvette> Wonder if you could encapsulate then in a bellows
[23:33:17] <hazzy-m> they are motors that run a winch which lifts the floor
