[11:21:37] * JT-Shop is in the middle of a huge clean up in the garage
[11:42:10] <Lcvette> lcvette is going to the doctors office
[11:42:17] <Lcvette> thinks he has cat scratch fever
[11:42:23] <jthornton> are you sick?
[11:42:26] <Lcvette> :(
[11:42:56] <Lcvette> not with corona
[11:43:39] <Lcvette> have had swollen painful glands in my neck for 4 days now
[11:43:47] <jthornton> ouch
[11:43:47] <Lcvette> no other symptoms
[11:44:02] <Lcvette> got torn up a last week by one of my cats
[11:44:14] <Lcvette> diring bathtime
[11:44:19] * jthornton broke through the 180 barrier this morning
[11:44:20] <Lcvette> * during bathtime
[11:44:40] <Lcvette> 180
[11:44:47] <jthornton> ouch and they are big cats
[11:44:49] <Lcvette> ?
[11:44:51] <jthornton> 180 pounds
[11:45:04] <Lcvette> wow!
[11:45:09] <jthornton> I weighed in at 179.2 this morning
[11:45:24] <Lcvette> thats crazy good
[11:45:52] <jthornton> yea gotta keep it up till I'm down to 12 stone
[11:45:54] <Lcvette> how tall are you?
[11:46:22] <Lcvette> me at 180 looks sickly
[11:47:27] <Lcvette> where did you start?
[11:47:34] <Lcvette> ie how much have you lost?
[11:51:56] <JT-Shop> 60 pounds so far, but I gained 10 back and had to loose that again
[13:30:11] <roguish[m]> Lcvette: hey, you there?
[13:30:53] <roguish[m]> you've been machining stuff for a while, right? ever do any die work?
[13:38:51] -!- rngmaster has joined #hazzy
[13:39:07] -!- rngmaster has parted #hazzy
[13:46:13] <Lcvette> roguish: hey, no die work, that takes a pretty dedicated type of machine generally to do with any sort of efficiency
[13:46:59] <Lcvette> usually super high rpm spindle, very stiff and very high speed since the stepovers are usually tiny for surface finish purposes
[14:27:33] <roguish[m]> Lcvette: sorry was working on my dev setup, trying to figue out a new drive.
[14:28:55] <roguish[m]> ok, well, the company I am consulting to makes an insulation material that is extruded out of a die. very hot, very high pressure. die parts are round, 6 to 10 inch diam. several parts.
[14:30:08] <roguish[m]> the founder does not like haveing to pay 5 or 6k for a set of dies, and waiting for 4 or 5 or more weeks. SO he wants to have a machine shop in house. he knows absolutely nothing of machining.
[14:30:41] <roguish[m]> I have been asked ot figure it out. and make a recommendation as to what kind of mill and / or lathe.
[14:31:31] <roguish[m]> he really thinks you buy one like a lawnmower at HomeDeopot or something. throw it on the floor and it spits out dies in hours.....
[14:31:38] <roguish[m]> funny but sad.
[14:32:28] <roguish[m]> he also met a Haas salesman at a party, who of course wants to see him what ever he wants,
[14:35:03] <TurBoss> hello
[14:35:17] * roguish[m] uploaded an image: image.png (305KB) < https://matrix.org >
[14:35:58] * roguish[m] uploaded an image: image.png (301KB) < https://matrix.org >
[14:36:22] * roguish[m] uploaded an image: image.png (228KB) < https://matrix.org >
[14:37:01] <roguish[m]> Lcvette: those are some of the parts. either stainless or a hardenable steel
[14:38:00] <roguish[m]> in your experienced, proffesional opinion, what type of machine would do these best and most efficienly?
[14:45:52] <JT-Shop> at the local plastic injection factory they have a pretty big HAAS VMC and a host of other fancy stuff
[14:46:18] <JT-Shop> they have a welder with a microscope that can deposit 0.001"
[14:50:40] <roguish[m]> JT-Shop: i started with a large VMC, but now am thinking a cnc lathe with Y axis combined with a decent cnc bed mill.
[14:51:02] <roguish[m]> live tooling for the lathe too.
[14:53:51] <roguish[m]> but I don't really know. and they won't give a budget..... added another 50k or so just for all the ancillary tools. and it needs an enclosed room to go in. the insulation is make withe powder which gets everywhere. and if any chips ever got into the powder material, any at all, it will cause many thousands of dollars of damage to the extruder.
[14:54:32] <roguish[m]> a small screw got in somehow, cost over 10k out of pocket to fix, tens of thousands in lost production.
[14:58:33] <JT-Shop> yea extruders don't like metal bits... they don't have a magnetic drawer in the pellet feet?
[14:58:43] <JT-Shop> that is a must for plastic injection
[14:58:58] <JT-Shop> well a SS screw would get past that lol
[15:06:09] <Lcvette> Yeah those are beat suited for multiaxis lathe
[15:06:36] <Lcvette> Best
[15:06:40] * JT-Shop just looked and round = lathe
[15:07:38] <roguish[m]> and of course out here right now a machinist to do that and program is like 120+k
[15:08:33] <roguish[m]> per year....

[15:09:36] <JT-Shop> Lcvette, managed to get everyone in the garage with room for the wifes Honda
[15:09:38] <roguish[m]> show off....
[15:09:54] <JT-Shop> hey I worked my ass off
[15:10:08] <roguish[m]> dropping some tonnage sure helps in the bike riding.
[15:10:11] <JT-Shop> the garage was just full of crap... been cleaning for days
[15:10:53] <JT-Shop> been thinking of getting a 27.5 mountain bike the 29er is just a bit tall for me
[15:11:23] * JT-Shop still has a ton of crap to sort through
[15:11:48] <roguish[m]> sell it if you can. cash is king
[15:12:25] <JT-Shop> yea, I'll sell the 29er
[15:12:56] * JT[m] uploaded an image: VectorImage_2020-03-20_021244.jpg (252KB) < https://matrix.org >
[15:13:22] <JT-Shop> I found my first welding table I built years ago, it was buried up in the garage lol
[16:14:31] <JT-Shop> roguish[m], I just pushed some more font fixing
[17:10:59] <TurBoss> JT-Shop: is that for bp or milltouch?
[17:12:57] <TurBoss> ok milltouch
[17:13:00] <TurBoss> just saw the commit date
[17:22:07] <TurBoss> works great but it shows this error messages 😕
[17:22:46] <TurBoss> http://dpaste.com
[17:24:28] <TurBoss> just noticed clipping area on VTK camera
[17:24:51] <TurBoss> maybe because the new camera options for pan

[17:44:07] <JT-Shop> TurBoss, I don't get that error message, however on my dev PC I get a bunch of build errors on the docs
[17:48:35] <TurBoss> how do I trigger the docs build?
[18:16:26] <Lcvette> JT-Shop: nice!!! looks tody!!
[18:16:45] <Lcvette> i think JT has a strong affection for the color blue
[18:16:48] <Lcvette> :D

[18:27:41] <Lcvette> TurBoss: o/
[18:27:48] <Lcvette> how are you doing?

[18:28:00] <TurBoss> welll

[18:28:34] <TurBoss> improvint TurboNC
[18:28:40] <TurBoss> * improving TurboNC
[18:29:41] <TurBoss> 7 dais confined
[18:30:40] <Lcvette> roguish: back at computer, i don't think he is going to want a haas for die making, generally the machines that make dies hold higher tolerances than haas. I would look into doosen machines, they are about twice the weight of a haas for a similar envelope and have better quality components in them.
[18:31:41] <Lcvette> maybe a 5 axis mill turn machine for what he is making if the parts are 10" plus in size, that would handle all he needed to do
[18:36:24] <Lcvette> :(
[18:36:34] <Lcvette> sorry you are confined
[18:36:43] <Lcvette> /o\
[18:39:49] <TurBoss> we are in "ALARM STATE"

[19:15:53] <hazzy-m> JT: what type of things need to be configurable?
[19:16:13] <Lcvette> JT: you can use the settings things
[19:16:37] <Lcvette> they store and as long as the json file stays with the users config file it should remain through an update
[19:16:44] <TurBoss> maybe using gitignore?
[19:22:05] <JT[m]> I dunno font size maybe or adding something
[19:22:43] <hazzy-m> just read the logs

[19:31:40] <hazzy-m> TurBoss: that should work, but we have to tell designer about the widget somehow

[19:32:27] <Lcvette> JT: ive never seen a black snake with the red stripe

[20:04:29] <hazzy-m> TurBoss: do you know how to import from a module object?
[20:04:53] <TurBoss> what?
[20:05:11] <hazzy-m> `<module 'widgets' from '/home/kurt/dev/cnc/BlueControl/widgets/__init__.pyc'>`
[20:05:25] <TurBoss> nope
[20:05:33] <hazzy-m> I have this module, that contains custom widget plugin classes

[20:05:45] <TurBoss> cool1
[20:05:48] <hazzy-m> I need to find a way to import the classes into the current scope
[20:05:57] <hazzy-m> and it should be done
[20:06:10] <TurBoss> i tried in main.py
[20:06:14] <TurBoss> of the vcp
[20:06:31] <hazzy-m> then custom widgets can be installed as separate packages and added to the qtpyvcp.widgets group
[20:07:28] * hazzy-m sent a long message: < https://matrix.org >
[20:09:42] <TurBoss> and how designer will detect thoose?

[20:10:26] <TurBoss> could multiple paths be added?
[20:12:58] <TurBoss> QT_PLUGIN_PATH
[20:13:17] <hazzy-m> yes, any path will work
[20:13:25] <hazzy-m> just like the vcp entry points
[20:13:36] <hazzy-m> you can import from anywhere
