[06:57:08] <hazzy-m> Morning
[09:27:19] <Lcvette> morning
[10:47:56] <roguish[m]> morning all.......
[12:18:27] <jthornton> kinda weird with the hardware stores almost empty and not much traffic
[12:22:27] <roguish[m]> jthornton: just started your RPI Preempt install.....
[12:46:34] <JT-Shop> cool, if you notice anything let me know
[12:59:01] <roguish[m]> JT-Shop: well, i tried to install lightdm to get a boot into a desktop. desktop came up on boot, but would not login. just went in circles. so reflashing and I'll try again.......
[13:08:35] <JT-Shop> right mouse click
[13:10:36] <JT-Shop> you might have edited the comment in lightdm.conf
[13:10:50] <JT-Shop> you have to scroll down past the comments
[13:14:32] <roguish[m]> doing the lightdm install again.....
[13:19:16] <JT-Shop> ok
[13:37:04] <roguish[m]> guess i got ahead of the instructions by trying to install lightdm too soon.
[13:37:48] <roguish[m]> going strictly by your guide now..... in the dist-upgrade now
[13:45:27] <JT-Shop> :)
[13:45:28] <roguish[m]> JT-Shop: hey, when i'm doing the git clone, it wants a username and password......
[13:45:41] <roguish[m]> is there a generic?
[13:47:06] <roguish[m]> JT-Shop: ok, found a github id and pw
[13:47:49] <roguish[m]> working now...
[13:48:23] <JT-Shop> you should not need an id or pw to clone
[13:48:49] <roguish[m]> well. i also had a typo.....
[13:48:54] <roguish[m]> lol
[13:49:00] <JT-Shop> that would do it
[13:50:07] <roguish[m]> JT-Shop: how are you doing 'off the grid' ?
[13:57:37] <JT-Shop> it's pretty quiet here, most stores that are still open have very few customers except grocery stores
[13:59:38] <JT-Shop> my buddy asked me if I was going to self confine I had to laugh, that's sop for me
[14:02:45] <roguish[m]> that's what I was figuring for ya..... kinda handy
[14:10:35] <JT-Shop> trying to fit an old set of forklift forks to my Kubota tractor bucket
[14:10:46] <JT-Shop> almost done with that...
[15:24:30] <roguish[m]> JT-Shop: made it through the kernel install. on to the openbox....
[15:37:52] <JT-Shop> yippie
[16:39:31] <roguish[m]> some of this is really slow. lots to download, unpack, and install...... it's cooking.
[17:46:10] <roguish[m]> JT-Shop: ok, all the way to install in caja. i think i'll install pluma also.
[17:48:14] <jthornton> I like Geany
[17:50:57] <roguish[m]> sure is taking lots to install caja
[17:52:05] <roguish[m]> all this is going on the sd card right?
[17:52:25] <roguish[m]> I used a 32G i had laying around...
[17:58:00] <JT-Shop> yea
[18:03:26] <JT-Shop> https://gnipsel.com
[18:32:48] <roguish[m]> nice those kubota's are pretty good. my buddy with 22 acres has 1. he's got a couple acres of wine grapes, adn a horse pasture. my neighbors sister has a couple kubota's on her farm. she's got like 80 acres of grapes....used to grow corn, but grapes for Gallo are way more profitable.
[18:53:31] -!- KimK has quit [Ping timeout: 246 seconds]
[19:06:24] <jthornton> yea Kubota is much better than the cheap imitations, I got this one really cheap
[19:16:16] -!- jmarsac has quit [Read error: Connection reset by peer]
[19:27:39] <hazzy-m> https://youtu.be
[19:29:26] <jthornton> what is that?
[19:29:46] <hazzy-m> Just playing with my new drone
[19:30:10] <jthornton> what did you get?
[19:30:23] <hazzy-m> its a cheap Contixo F24 Pro, but its surprisingly decent
[19:31:01] <hazzy-m> very stable and controllable even without GPS enabled
[19:31:13] <jthornton> pretty much a mavic clone?
[19:31:52] <hazzy-m> yeah, pretty much
[19:32:03] <jthornton> any flight zone limitations?
[19:33:28] <jthornton> is it quiet?
[19:34:18] <hazzy-m> its very quite
[19:34:57] <hazzy-m> much less noisy than the phantom my boss has
[19:35:39] <jthornton> yea the phantom is much louder than the mavic but I think the camera is better
[19:35:53] <hazzy-m> it has brushless motors and a 30min+ run time, which is for a sub $250 drone is pretty good
[19:36:16] <jthornton> also the phantom 3 loses video signal faster than the mavic
[19:36:32] <jthornton> yea that is amazing flight time
[19:38:06] <jthornton> I'm impressed with the mavic RTH it will land within a foot of takeoff point
[19:38:18] <jthornton> the phantom 3 not so good
[19:38:20] <hazzy-m> they advertised 30min run time and I didn't expect to actually get that, but I got 34min out of it, and that was not just hovering lol
[19:38:43] <jthornton> I usually fly the phantom 3 home and land myself
[19:39:05] <hazzy-m> the RTH is not great, it was about 10ft off
[19:39:19] <hazzy-m> but I just bring it close and then grab it out of the air
[19:39:23] <jthornton> the phantom is a bit better than that
[19:39:38] <jthornton> yea same here for the phantom
[19:39:45] <hazzy-m> it does not have object avoidance so that's kinda nice for hand landing it
[19:40:03] <jthornton> oh no I land on the ground
[19:40:29] <jthornton> gotta get a video of you snatching it out of the air lol
[19:40:57] <hazzy-m> will do!
[19:41:53] <hazzy-m> the warehouse guys are slow because of corona, so I foresee a lot of drone flying in the near future lol
[19:44:38] <jthornton> weather has sucked here for flying
[19:45:12] <jthornton> but could be flying the quads indoors
[19:45:57] <jthornton> did you see the forks on the Kubota
[19:54:19] <hazzy-m> jthornton: that looks great! Nice and quick to take on/off
[19:56:54] <hazzy-m> where was your Kubota made?
[19:57:03] <hazzy-m> got a couple of plants here in GA
[19:57:25] <hazzy-m> actually they have several folders, use them for making the buckets
[19:57:30] <jthornton> dunno, I'll have to check
[19:57:55] <jthornton> yea two bolts to remove the locking bar and they come off
[19:58:42] <jthornton> took quite a bit of head scratching and ciphering lol
[19:59:05] <hazzy-m> came out real nice
[21:09:20] <roguish[m]> jthornton: ok, starting the lcnc install on the Pi
