[04:15:48] <Joco[m]1> hazzy: did the HAL stuff via a plugin. Nice and contained and for an initial release very simple. I think there is potential to get more clever later. But I don't see a lot of value in delaying some simple to do and useful things while waiting for a "grand design".

[11:14:52] <Lcvette> is there a seperate post for linuxcnc turning in fusion360?
[11:15:07] <Lcvette> im trying to run the first part in full cnc and i am not having any luck getting it to post
[11:22:51] <Lcvette> figured it out
[11:22:53] <Lcvette> needed a new post

[13:26:28] * Lcvette uploaded an image: ADAD7419-6A8B-4512-A77A-3598BBE38E07.jpg (469KB) < https://matrix.org >
[13:26:57] <Lcvette> first customer just installed the power upgrade kit
[13:57:16] <Lcvette> turboss are you here?
[13:58:11] * Lcvette sent a long message: < https://matrix.org >
[13:58:26] <Lcvette> getting this error when trying to load the lathe gui
[14:01:01] <Lcvette> looks like i am missing the xz view slot in designer
[14:02:51] <Lcvette> loads if i set it to z view or another listed slot
[14:03:00] <Lcvette> not sure how to resolve
[14:03:01] <Lcvette> halp!

[15:56:15] <Joco[m]1> Setviewxz - is that supposed to be a perspective view? I dont recall that one.
[17:07:08] <Lcvette> no flat lathge view
[17:07:10] <Lcvette> * no flat lathe view
[17:07:18] <Lcvette> * no, flat lathe view
[17:07:23] <Lcvette> in the correct orientation
[17:09:33] <Joco[m]1> Oh. Is that like Z1 and Z2?
[17:10:06] <Joco[m]1> Oops - lathe specific?
[17:17:42] <Lcvette> no there used to be a slot for that specific view
[17:17:46] <Lcvette> may have been lost in the merge
[17:17:50] <Lcvette> ?
[17:18:10] <Lcvette> or maybe when turboss was doing the tool vtk stuff it got lost
[17:18:18] <Lcvette> i dunno
[17:18:33] <Lcvette> but it is sorely needed since lathe starts up in 3d mode
[17:18:44] <Lcvette> can never quite get the view flat without it
[17:28:57] <Joco[m]1> You could hard set the starting view from within the VCP main python file
[17:32:13] <Joco[m]1> I do that for panning on my UI
[17:32:16] <Lcvette> i dunno python stuff
[17:32:24] <Joco[m]1> I can do that for you
[17:32:26] <Lcvette> /o\
[17:32:42] <Lcvette> i think lathe should only be xz view
[17:32:43] <Lcvette> no rotation
[17:33:02] <Lcvette> but i don't think turboss knows how to turn rotation off in vtk without messing things up
[17:33:14] <Joco[m]1> I turn it off
[17:33:24] <Joco[m]1> Panning mode
[17:33:48] <Joco[m]1> Set panning mode in code and no button to change it
[17:34:09] <Lcvette> ah intersting
[17:34:26] <Joco[m]1> I hard set panning mode active on my UI.
[17:34:27] <Lcvette> can you set the xz view so it matches what a lathe should look like?
[17:34:38] <Joco[m]1> I have a button to toggle it on and off but starting state is on
[17:35:16] <Joco[m]1> If there is a slot on VTK for a view we can hard set that view in the starting python code of the VCP
[17:37:06] <Lcvette> ok
[17:37:17] <Lcvette> I am about to run a lathe pully real quick...I hope
[17:37:27] <Lcvette> ttryiung to squeeze it in before dinner
[17:39:29] <Joco[m]1> I’m just reading he VTK code
[17:44:43] <Joco[m]1> Lcvette: had a look at code back in March and not seeing a setviewxz slot
[17:47:50] <Joco[m]1> It might be there is a missing view for lathes
[19:01:07] -!- jmarsac has quit [Read error: Connection reset by peer]
[19:32:29] <Lcvette> hazzy: im beggin please make those dro's work
[19:32:41] <Lcvette> im floundering in gmoccapy trying to get things working in lathe it is horrid
[19:43:56] <Joco[m]1> Donuts. The ultimate bribe.
[19:45:01] <Joco[m]1> I’m sitting down at a little hole in a wall cafe getting coffee and Baileys cream donuts
[19:54:51] <hazzy-m1> Joco: nice
[19:55:04] <hazzy-m1> Lcvette: We can merge, but they don't have radius mode yet
[19:55:15] <hazzy-m1> or dia mode ...
[19:55:17] <Lcvette> i only use diameter mode
[19:55:21] <Lcvette> \o/
[19:55:25] <hazzy-m1> which ever it is
[19:55:49] <Lcvette> oh you mean only has radius mode
[19:55:54] <Lcvette> not diameter mode?
[19:55:59] <Lcvette> /o\
[19:56:52] <hazzy-m1> yeah
[19:57:00] <hazzy-m1> should be an easy fix
[19:57:23] <hazzy-m1> so it needs to just multiply the value by 2 for the Y axis?
[19:59:52] <Lcvette> X axis?
[20:00:16] <Lcvette> I dunno
[20:02:02] <Lcvette> hazzy: lathe uses x and z
[20:06:17] <Joco[m]1> hazzy: x = cross slide, z = axis out from lathe spindle
[20:49:39] * hazzy-m1 should have known that
[20:49:47] <hazzy-m1> thanks Joco!
[21:07:19] <Joco[m]1> Lcvette: the load meter on PB. What does that hook up to? Is there a HAL pin exposed for it?
[21:09:33] <hazzy-m1> it currently is not a HAL load meter
[21:09:42] <hazzy-m1> so no way to use it
[21:09:54] <Joco[m]1> Ok. So where does it get its load data from?
[21:10:09] <hazzy-m1> we need to finish the HAL load meter, got hung of on the paint event
[21:10:11] <Joco[m]1> Ah snap
[21:10:48] <hazzy-m1> it works in vertical orientation, but not in horizontal and inverted
[21:12:00] <hazzy-m1> Joco: https://github.com
[21:12:01] <Joco[m]1> oh. How odd. Is that something worth me getting into ? No promises. But if no one else looking at it. ...
[21:12:23] <hazzy-m1> Yes, that would be awesome!
[21:12:45] <hazzy-m1> its just a little simple math
[21:12:54] <Joco[m]1> I’m interested as the servo I’m looking to use as a spindle motor can report load data. Amps and torque
[21:13:08] <hazzy-m1> sweet!
[21:14:34] <Joco[m]1> It’s only 1 HP but I have found a number of users that seem to have success. Worse case I use it for something else and accept I need something in the 3hp range and accept the $ associated with that.
[21:15:11] <Joco[m]1> Anyway - back on topic. I’ll start to snoop at that widget.
[21:19:56] <Joco[m]1> hazzy: is it this widget: https://github.com
[21:21:57] <Joco[m]1> Just snooping on phone as in car with the boss (aka The Wife)
[21:26:37] <hazzy-m1> Yes, that's the HALBarIndicator, and its based off of this bar indicator:

[21:29:03] <hazzy-m1> I guess I can't push the the PR...
[21:29:04] <hazzy-m1> strange
[21:29:20] <hazzy-m1> * I guess I can't push to the PR...
[21:29:33] <Joco[m]1> Beats me. It’s all git magic.
[21:30:10] <hazzy-m1> It will all end up in the same place eventually, but not what I intended to do
[21:30:26] <Joco[m]1> svn I understand. Git feels like there is a large does of black magic in the mix.
[21:31:19] <Joco[m]1> dose dang nabbit. Bloody auto correct
[21:34:41] <Lcvette> Hazzy you pushed. \o/
[22:07:54] <Lcvette> Hazzy how do i implement?
[22:17:39] <hazzy-m1> Lcvette: DRO?
[22:17:52] <Lcvette> Yeah
[22:18:13] <Lcvette> Does it just work or do i need to change or the dros for a new widget?
[22:19:09] <Lcvette> hazzy: ^^^
[22:22:33] <hazzy-m1> you need to change to a new widget
[22:22:36] <hazzy-m1> but I have not merged to master yet
[22:23:09] <hazzy-m1> I decided to create a new widget so it would not break existing VCPs that used the old style DROs
[22:23:31] <hazzy-m1> but the old one will be depreciated
[22:23:31] <Lcvette> Ah
[22:23:56] <Lcvette> What's depreciated
[22:24:26] <hazzy-m1> * but the old one will be deprecated
[22:24:26] <Lcvette> In these terms
[22:24:44] <Lcvette> I know it's meaning with values in cars etc
[22:25:00] <hazzy-m1> marked as obsolete, and something that will be removed down the road
[22:25:17] <Lcvette> Deprecated
[22:25:31] <Lcvette> Ah
[22:25:32] <hazzy-m1> auto correct got me, I fixed it
[22:25:43] <Lcvette> 🤣
[22:26:22] <hazzy-m1> damn auto correct lol
[22:26:32] <Lcvette> Lol
[22:26:33] <hazzy-m1> but I'd be in even worse trouble without it haha
[22:26:49] <Lcvette> /o\

[22:28:23] <Lcvette> Lol
[22:28:39] <Lcvette> Walfus
[22:28:54] <Lcvette> I'm gonna demand some walfus for breakfast from my wife
[22:29:59] <Lcvette> If no one hears from me in a few days report me buried in the back yard
[22:30:54] <hazzy-m1> hahahaha
[22:31:19] <Lcvette> :D
[23:19:27] <Joco[m]1> yup - if I demand anything from the boss its is ALWAYS outside of kicking distance
