[13:31:36] <Joco[m]> Morning. JT whats the pneumatics for?
[14:32:19] <JT-Cave> 1800's spoke lathe that makes hammer handles

[15:21:10] <Joco[m]> đź‘Ť
[15:23:08] <roguish[m]> JT-Cave: lucky they're pneumatics, not hydraulics..................
[15:25:20] <Joco[m]> Easier to deal with I guess. I have some light weight pneumatics to do for mill. Just automation of mist coolant.

[15:37:37] <Joco[m]> I’m debating which card to get to add encoder capability to 7i76 or 7i76e. Toss up between the 7i85S or 7i89. I like the idea of the i89 as it keeps options open later to convert to servos or add encoders to steppers.
[15:37:37] <Joco[m]> This is to allow use of the glass scales.
[15:37:38] <Joco[m]> * This is to allow use of the glass scales in the first instance.
[15:41:40] <Joco[m]> Tomorrow’s target for auction. Going to inspect today. Hope its in ok condition.

[16:00:57] <JT-Shop> nice little surface grinder, I have a Brown and Sharpe 612
[16:08:39] <Joco[m]> From my reading they come in two variants. Direct drive and belt drive. Hope is the belt version. Seems to be better regarded.
[16:09:34] <Joco[m]> I understand it is possible to do a belt conversion.
[16:10:09] <Joco[m]> * I understand it is possible to do a belt conversion. If that is desired.
[16:11:31] <Joco[m]> JT-Shop: the B&S 612 is a nice size. I was looking at its bigger brother at one point. Just too large though.
[16:16:25] <JT-Shop> the spindle is direct drive IIRC
[16:16:51] <JT-Shop> yea the 612 is pretty big, anything bigger would be way to big for my shop
[16:22:09] <Joco[m]> Oops. Got my SGs mixed up. It was a Jones and Shipman 1400.

[16:38:43] <JT-Shop> https://s3.amazonaws.com
[16:38:57] <JT-Shop> that's the model I have
[16:40:03] <JT-Shop> just looked in vents and it's a belt drive spindle
[16:48:44] <Joco[m]> oh that's nice. Sooo much good old iron in the States.
[16:54:10] <Joco[m]> hmmm ... trying to figure out how to get the free xilinx license
[16:54:18] <Joco[m]> it is NOT obviou
[16:54:25] <Joco[m]> * it is NOT obvious

[17:55:47] <Joco[m]> * it is NOT obvious <-- solved.
[18:20:33] <Joco[m]> wow - letting it work its way through the linuxcnc hostmod firmware build. Taking a while
