[10:35:57] <andypugh> I seem to have gor some NaNs stuck in my mill config. Possibly in the G54 offsets. Where are those stored? Is it the .vars file? (Looks clean)

[11:41:16] <hazzy> andypugh: I've had that happen before when setting work coord offsets with a parameter that did not exist, it apparently corrupted the var file, it looked fine in a text editor by was clearly the problem since it was fine after deleting it so a new one would be written
[12:03:48] <andypugh> A power-down restart seemed to do the trick. I have a feeling the NaN was being stored in the STMBL drive.

[21:13:48] <jepler_> "free.fr" has decided mails from the forum are spam, argh.
[21:14:23] <jepler_> normal humans like john t, andy, and peter continue replying to the forum when users use it to "direct e-mail" them :-/
[21:14:34] <jepler_> JT-Shop: your reply about 'qcad postprocessor'
[21:14:41] <jepler_> andypugh: your reply about 'external push buttons'
[21:14:56] <jepler_> pcw_home: and yours about 7i92_7i77_7i76d
[21:22:29] <jepler_> .. I'm disabling the option to "send email" via the forum, it seems to lead to problems
[21:22:51] -!- jiffiOS27 has joined #linuxcnc-devel
[21:24:55] -!- jiffiOS27 has quit [Remote host closed the connection]
[21:26:30] <jepler_> namely, it could be used to send spam and I have no way of monitoring whether that has been the case in the past
[21:26:51] <jepler_> so, sorry about that loss of functionality. The only alternative is to expose users' email addresses directly to any registered user, and I don't think that's better.
[21:27:07] jepler_ is now known as jepler
[21:28:42] -!- mode/#linuxcnc-devel [+o jepler] by ChanServ
[21:29:18] -!- mode/#linuxcnc-devel [-q $~a] by jepler
[21:29:26] -!- mode/#linuxcnc-devel [-q $~a] by jepler
[21:30:16] <pcw_home> How are you supposed to reply? why on earth have a reply address that does not work?
[21:30:43] <jepler> It's a stupid attempt to safeguard peoples' email addresses. I don't get it to be honest.
[21:30:55] <jepler> but many people treat their addresses as secret or private and I don't want to trample on that by enabling the next best thing
[21:31:09] -!- mgsk has joined #linuxcnc-devel
[21:31:09] <mgsk> because that's a very specific feature
[21:31:12] <mgsk> why aren't there any alternatives?
[21:31:17] <jepler> I guess you're supposed to go back to the forum, find their profile, and use the email button again? It's asinine.
[21:31:17] <mgsk> nothos: afaik, more sources, mixed better generates higher quality entropy
[21:34:22] <jepler> huh had someone else cleared the "+q" flag for unregistered users already?
[21:34:29] <pcw_home> most of the stuff I get would be better asked/answered on the forum anyway so its no loss to me if the "send email" option were just disabled
[21:35:21] <jepler> I tend to agree, and when I'm working on LinuxCNC stuff or answering LinuxCNC questions I'd personally rather do it in public. Your position might be somewhat different with customers, in that it's more appropriate to take a customer's feedback/questions privately.
[21:35:58] -!- mgsk has quit [Remote host closed the connection]
[21:36:19] <pcw_home> Sure, in that case I can (and do) ask them to email mesa
[21:37:38] <Tom_itx> jepler maybe you released it too soon? in the main channel?
[21:39:40] <jepler> oh I guess that I don't see mode changes on #linuxcnc-devel for some reason
[21:39:52] <jepler> so we do have some weird word salad type stuff appearing on both channels soon after I changed the mode. hm.
[21:40:16] <Tom_itx> not all of them show up
[21:46:57] -!- Tom_L has joined #linuxcnc-devel
[22:05:14] -!- Tom_L has quit [Quit: Leaving]
[22:05:22] Tom_itx is now known as Tom_L
[22:14:48] <Tom_L> jepler i'd recomend switching it back, just my opinion...

[23:02:33] -!- SanguineAnomaly2 has joined #linuxcnc-devel
[23:02:33] <SanguineAnomaly2> my hifi has spotify connect, which is rather useful. it'll do plex via dlna, but the UI doesn't handle it well
[23:02:36] <SanguineAnomaly2> And this has nothing to do with the brace expansion. It would be just as fast, maybe even faster, to benchmark mkdir a b c d e f.
[23:02:41] <SanguineAnomaly2> >guy asks for 5000 now
[23:02:48] <SanguineAnomaly2> I supposedly has to do with the fact that 1/3 + 1/5 + ... + 1/13 < 1, but 1/3 + 1/5 + ... + 1/15 > 1
[23:02:57] <SanguineAnomaly2> the sign column is either off, or is 2 chars wide as far as I know
