[14:52:27] <hazzy-m> been really quite in here ...
[15:05:34] <skunkworks> Too quiet...
[15:08:26] <hazzy-m> I miss jepler's forum updates, they were regular as clockwork, hope he is OK
[15:25:01] <skunkworks> Linuxcnc has always ebbed and flowed...
[15:30:58] <jthornton> skunkworks: were you around here during the EMC 1 days?
[15:37:57] <Tom_L> were you jthornton?
[15:38:28] <Tom_L> i followed it from the early days but never used it until recently
[15:38:54] * hazzy-m was learning how to crawl in the EMC1 days
[15:40:51] <JT-Shop> I started with emc when the first live cd came out as I was too brain dead to use the BDI (Brain Dead Install) for geeks only lol
[15:41:21] <JT-Shop> I think that was emc 2.1
[15:42:46] -!- micges_ has quit [Quit: Leaving]
[15:43:02] -!- micges has joined #linuxcnc-devel
[15:44:00] <Tom_L> what did you run it on?
[15:45:17] <Tom_L> i was using flashcutcnc back then
[15:45:27] <Tom_L> on a rs232 line :)
[15:46:18] <JT-Shop> that's when I built the plasma table
[15:46:30] <JT-Shop> I even have some of the BDI cd's laying around lol
[15:46:58] <Tom_L> i can't even remember how far back that was
[15:47:27] <Tom_L> i've had the sherline for 25+ years
[15:47:35] <Tom_L> probably more than that now
[15:53:27] <Tom_L> JT-Shop did you see the threadmill macro i did for my cad cam?
[15:53:47] <Tom_L> simple but it's kinda handy
[15:58:44] <JT-Shop> yea saw that the other day, what program is it for?
[15:58:53] <Tom_L> smartcam
[15:59:22] <JT-Shop> never tried that
[15:59:36] <Tom_L> added lead in lead out and a z feed move now
[15:59:50] <Tom_L> it was comparable to mastercam only better back then
[16:00:19] <Tom_L> commercial product
[16:02:06] <Tom_L> there are far better programs out there now but i'm just using it for a hobby now
[18:35:56] -!- pcw_home has quit [Ping timeout: 240 seconds]

[19:03:24] <CMorley> Tom_L what version of smartcam do you have - I have version 7.55 turn -uses a dongle
[19:26:15] <Tom_L> 4.61
[19:26:22] <Tom_L> pretty old..
[19:26:53] <Tom_L> i'm trying to figure out how to change the txt color in the macro dialog boxes
[19:27:04] <Tom_L> very hard to read as is
[19:27:12] <Tom_L> almost white on white
[19:29:47] <Tom_L> mine also has a dongle
[19:30:35] <Tom_L> i've got FFM & Pturn
[19:36:38] <Tom_L> http://tom-itx.no-ip.biz:81
[19:36:53] <Tom_L> CMorley, there's a single point thread macro if you have any use for it
[19:37:14] <Tom_L> 2 passes
[19:40:33] <CMorley> Thank you. I would love to get a copy of mill but I've never found one. I would give you the 7.55 version if you like - though the 10 or so disks are a bit inconvenient..
[19:41:47] <Tom_L> years ago i found a canadian company that cracked the dongle. i got tired of calling every time i updated something
[19:41:54] <Tom_L> so i'm dongle free now
[19:42:13] <Tom_L> you wanna try 4.61?
[19:42:25] <Tom_L> i'm sure it's long past anybody caring...
[19:44:16] <Tom_L> i've only used Pturn a couple of times
[19:44:30] <Tom_L> we generally just MDI the code and save it
[19:44:38] <CMorley> Sure. i actually a few years ago contacted point control to ask if they would release the old code - they refused and mentioned that i was not really supposed to be using the version i had as it was purchased by the former owner of the machine. I asked no more questions after that :)
[19:45:45] <Tom_L> ffm is alot like pturn with more features
[19:46:22] <Tom_L> it's traded hands probably 4 or so times since point control...
[19:46:28] <CMorley> the version i have is dos based but can be run on win 98 at least ..
[19:46:44] <Tom_L> i have an original dos install as well
[19:46:47] <Tom_L> but use windows
[19:47:03] <Tom_L> i keep the dos installed for file translation on old stuff
[19:48:58] <CMorley> I don;t use it much now but it can be handy sometimes. i was trying to get it to work on docbox but I couldn't figure out of to load it via disk - then there would have been the problem of the dongle
[19:49:28] <Tom_L> yeah i doubt i could use 7.55 either
[19:50:42] <CMorley> i have an old laptop I use with win 98
[19:51:29] <Tom_L> iirc the original install was on NT / dos dual boot which i still have
[19:52:01] <Tom_L> lemme burn an iso if i can find it
[19:55:11] <Tom_L> huh, i've actually got 9.1 but no way to install it
[19:58:11] <CMorley> You make an iso of the harddrive? i never though of that..
[19:58:23] <Tom_L> no, the install disk
[19:58:39] <Tom_L> that might work though...
[19:58:39] <CMorley> I have about 10 discs for install
[19:59:13] <Tom_L> i may have some stored away but i've got a CD install for 4.61
[19:59:27] <Tom_L> i probably still have the dos install disks somewhere
[19:59:51] <Tom_L> and a good post for lcnc
[20:24:32] <Tom_L> CMorley around?
[20:49:09] -!- Roguish_VM has quit [Remote host closed the connection]
[20:54:38] <CMorley> Tom_L: Thanks I'll check that out.
[20:54:53] <Tom_L> lemme know if you have problems
[21:11:42] <CMorley> ok i will
