[20:16:26] <seb_kuzminsky> does anyone use the program "halgui" has anyone even heard of it?
[20:17:47] <seb_kuzminsky> it was added to our repo in 2005, then never changed
[20:18:39] <Tom_L> huh never heard of it..
[20:19:28] <seb_kuzminsky> it's never been part of our packaging or build system
[20:19:40] <seb_kuzminsky> our docs mention it, but only to say that it's "not implemented yet"
[20:19:58] <Tom_L> maybe someone's attempt to make a gui builder?
[20:20:35] <seb_kuzminsky> who knows
[20:20:35] <Tom_L> if so, seems there may be better tools now
[20:22:32] <seb_kuzminsky> it's the only python program in our code base that tries to import stuff from python-gnome2
[20:22:43] <seb_kuzminsky> python-gnome2 is no longer in debian, as of buster
[20:23:15] <seb_kuzminsky> (there are other problems that prevent us from packaging linuxcnc for buster, this is just one of the obstacles)
[20:23:46] <seb_kuzminsky> anyway, i propose removing halgui from the 2.7 branch. i think the impact on users will be minimal, because we've never shipped halgui as part of any package
[20:23:53] <Tom_L> i don't recall hearing anyone mention halgui
[20:29:54] <Tom_L> gabewillen, tom3p, aitek, <andypugh> I think it might still be there, I wonder if it works?
[20:30:04] <Tom_L> mention it but any links posted for it are dead ends
[20:30:20] <Tom_L> you have my blessing fwiw :)
[20:31:51] <Tom_L> my log goes back several years
[20:33:09] <Tom_L> jepler opened issue #341 about it
[20:33:46] <Tom_L> <jepler> no, there's something in here called "halgui". tbh I don't know what it is.
[20:35:14] <Tom_L> nobody seems to know what it is and the links are dead
