[11:18:06] <jthornton> I'm trying to build a RIP on Debian 9.8 and I get this error https://forum.linuxcnc.org
[11:18:39] <jthornton> hazzy-m: built it fine on 9.5, anyone have an idea what's broken?

[13:18:52] <pcw_home> Linux 5.0.3 RT just announced
[13:34:33] <JT-Shop> RTAI?
[13:35:53] <pcw_home> Preempt-RT
[13:37:23] <JT-Shop> ah ok
[13:37:44] <JT-Shop> you try it out yet :)
[13:46:52] <pcw_home> I will sometime today

[15:19:12] <Tom_L> and the bleeding edge just keeps bleeding...
[17:00:14] <skunkworks> pcw_home: what settings for intel nic?
[17:00:30] <skunkworks> I seem to remember some bios settings?
[17:18:01] <skunkworks> The new laptop isn't as good realtime wise.. if it stays at about 110us - I would be happy., Should work fine...
[17:18:56] <skunkworks> currently running a windows vm...
[17:19:24] <skunkworks> pcw_home: has the new kernels been getting incremenally beter?
[17:25:45] <skunkworks> so far read time is 438us
[17:57:34] <mozmck> skunkworks: I find that overall the latency is a little worse on newer kernels - seems to go downhill after 4.1.x. It's not real bad, and it varies depending on the computer hardware.
[17:58:21] <mozmck> I haven't tried 5.x yet, but I've tested with quite a few versions between 4.1 and 4.19 now.
[18:16:26] <jthornton> buildbot seems to be stuck, anyone know how to give it a kick start?

[19:14:57] <Tom_L> http://tom-itx.no-ip.biz:81
[19:15:13] <Tom_L> looks like the G0 executes but hangs on the G1 line
[19:15:20] <Tom_L> 2.8 on wheezy
[19:15:44] <Tom_L> dgarr fixed the other issue, remap.py wrong version
[19:16:15] <Tom_L> i think andy said something about the multi spindle code hanging on G1 maybe?
[19:16:38] <Tom_L> (program runs on 2.7)
[19:18:43] <Tom_L> mmm, i see it's missing some N numbers i removed earlier to see if it hung on them
[19:18:49] <Tom_L> that should have no effect on this

[19:47:52] <Tom_L> log
[19:47:52] <c-log> Tom_L: Today's Log http://tom-itx.no-ip.biz:81
[19:56:00] <Tom_L> http://tom-itx.no-ip.biz:81
[19:56:17] <Tom_L> appears to execute N7 and hangs on N8
[20:18:10] <andypugh> Can you check spindle.0.at-speed ?
[20:18:45] <andypugh> Tom_L: Ping!
[20:19:05] <Tom_L> bak
[20:19:29] <Tom_L> gimme a couple min and i will
[20:19:34] <Tom_L> in show pin?
[20:19:41] <andypugh> Yes
[20:19:52] * Tom_L wanders out to the shop
[20:29:17] <Tom_L> never goes true
[20:30:48] <Tom_L> http://tom-itx.no-ip.biz:81
[20:31:19] <andypugh> Where did the configuration come from?
[20:31:27] <andypugh> Do you have a spoindle-at-speed signal?
[20:31:39] <Tom_L> i think i do yes
[20:31:46] <Tom_L> i'm using a near component iirc
[20:31:55] <andypugh> They should be connected together. It looks like they aren’t?
[20:32:17] <Tom_L> http://tom-itx.no-ip.biz:81
[20:32:29] <Tom_L> there's the config i'm running on it
[20:33:37] <Tom_L> net spindle-at-speed spindle.0.at-speed <= near.0.out
[20:34:36] <andypugh> Yout addf near.0 is commented out
[20:34:37] <andypugh> ### addf near.0 servo-thread
[20:34:49] <Tom_L> woops
[20:35:37] <Tom_L> wonder why i didn't get an error on that
[20:35:52] <andypugh> It isn’t an error.
[20:36:05] <andypugh> Though it isn’t what you wanted
[20:36:43] <Tom_L> i wonder why that would run ok in 2.7
[20:37:11] <andypugh> With exactly the same config?
[20:37:16] <andypugh> (Unlikely)
[20:42:26] <Tom_L> yes
[20:42:35] <Tom_L> ran it thru the conversion
[20:42:38] <Tom_L> that's it
[20:42:52] <andypugh> Do you have the 2.7 HAL ?
[20:42:55] <Tom_L> and it's working now
[20:42:56] <Tom_L> yes
[20:43:15] <Tom_L> notice the directory names ^^
[20:43:17] <Tom_L> http://tom-itx.no-ip.biz:81
[20:44:06] <Tom_L> odd nobody cared until now
[20:44:21] <Tom_L> i was messing with it when i was doing the orient code
[20:44:37] <Tom_L> i must have commented that out by mistake when i commented out the orient stuff
[20:46:27] <andypugh> I am puzzled too. I think that the 2.8 version is working correctly.
[20:47:37] <Tom_L> i'll keep it around but i'll probably start running 2.8
[20:48:16] <andypugh> Both configs seem equally broken. 2.7 _shouldn’t_ work.
[20:48:21] <Tom_L> heh
[20:49:04] <Tom_L> i should swap drives and fix it before i forget to
[20:49:19] <Tom_L> but it _is_ working
[20:49:34] <andypugh> That ooks like a bug in 2,7…
[20:52:42] <Tom_L> the remap.py is different in 2.8 too
[20:53:31] <Tom_L> that or toplevel.py
[20:53:37] <Tom_L> or both
[20:54:12] <Tom_L> stdglue.py
[20:54:38] <Tom_L> that's why it hung at line 0 yesterday
