[02:37:07] <miss0r> fragalot: if by drafting engineer you mean clueless client, no. I just expect *some* of the work done
[02:37:08] <miss0r> :)
[02:37:14] <fragalot> :D
[02:37:25] <miss0r> And I can't get him on the phone
[02:37:48] <fragalot> in my experience you don't really follow the client's drawing anyway. (which was a good thing, reallyà

[02:38:18] <miss0r> Were talking a fold down camera wall mount. And theres a few things I have no idea about: How much does said camera weigh, how long from the wall should the mount be located, should it fold down, rather than fold up ect... I have no idea
[02:38:43] <fragalot> miss0r: camera weight 4-5kg, fold both ways
[02:38:46] <miss0r> hehe, I often disregard the clients drawings, because my clients are idiot :]
[02:38:46] <fragalot> length adjustable
[02:38:54] <miss0r> fragalot: LOL!
[02:39:14] <Deejay> moin
[02:39:23] <miss0r> well - they wanted it made for 230eur...
[02:39:44] <fragalot> bend some rebar & thread 1/4"
[02:39:44] <miss0r> so, i'm not building a space shuttle here
[02:39:58] <miss0r> hehe
[02:40:35] <miss0r> I'll make the 'wall part' of 15mm aluminium, with the bolt holes in a circular pattern.. well, you can loosen the screws and turn it 22.5 degrees
[02:40:56] <miss0r> the 'fold out' part will rest on a M14x1 screw, so you can ajust the level a bit
[02:41:10] <fragalot> just sell 'm this. https://www.clearlightsecurity.com
[02:41:18] <miss0r> that is what I figures I'd do for ajustment. If I make the outrigger arm length ajustable, I will loose money
[02:41:29] <miss0r> hehe. yeah :D
[02:41:40] <fragalot> outrigger arm = M16 threaded rod :P
[02:41:44] <miss0r> But it needs to be able to folded away
[02:42:12] <miss0r> I have here one of those camera mount 'snap on' brackets, where I am to install one end on the bracket
[02:42:16] <fragalot> but yeah. undescribed jobs suck
[02:42:26] <fragalot> also - quit bothering clients this early on a holiday
[02:42:33] <fragalot> they're people too
[02:42:50] <miss0r> firstly: its not a holyday here, secondly: no, no they are not

[08:07:18] <elmo40> https://www.schneider-electric.com
[08:07:22] <ktchk> elmo40: I had been using 2 phase 1.8 deg 5mm/turn screw for 0.025mm step
[08:07:23] <elmo40> how large do you want them?

[08:09:51] <elmo40> what do you mean how is?
[08:10:09] <elmo40> you want 20Nm motor?
[08:11:04] <elmo40> Schneider has a 6Nm with 14mm shaft... how large is your project going to be?
[08:11:20] <ktchk> steps for 5mm/turn (200steps) devide by 1.2deg?
[08:12:00] <ktchk> 19mm shaft for knee mill direct drive

[08:13:17] <elmo40> and, with feedback
[08:13:40] <ktchk> how many counts per rev?
[08:13:45] <elmo40> 10,000
[08:14:05] <elmo40> on the encoder
[08:14:26] <elmo40> the motor is anywhere from 200 to 10,000 steps / turn
[08:14:38] <elmo40> full steps. not half steps.
[08:14:49] <elmo40> 1.8 °, 0.9 °, 0.72 °, 0.36 °, 0.18 °, 0.09 °, 0.072 °, 0.036 ° step angle
[08:15:00] <elmo40> looks like a nice motor. i wonder how much.
[08:16:02] <ktchk> I have question that stepper always stops at half step but can not stop at 1/4 step with micro step drive

[09:44:06] <Loetmichel> Hmm... i just used "WD-40 BIKE chain lube" as a cutting oil for threading aluminium... can do 6 M3 threads at 1300 rpm battery drill without relubing, where conventional cutting oil will be dry after 3 holes... and it does bog down the battery drill audibly less than the cutting oil. Also the tap dosent seem to get dull as fast... What trickery is that? What in hell did they mix into that
[09:44:06] <Loetmichel> stuff???
[09:45:00] -!- ktchk has quit [Quit: Konversation terminated!]
[09:45:50] <gregcnc> read sds?
[09:48:20] <mozmck> I've used WD-40 quite a bit for milling aluminum and found it worked better than any coolant I tried.
[09:48:53] <gregcnc> it's mostly stoddard solvent and some oil
[09:49:48] <mozmck> Yeah, but it works great. What is stoddard solvent?
[09:50:01] <gregcnc> almost kerosene
[09:53:43] <gregcnc> the china lube lists proprietary ingredients so you own't learn much

[10:12:40] <gregcnc> I don't understand those 3 phase steppers. they says 1000 step/rev is full step
[10:13:05] <gregcnc> most 3ph steppers are 300 step/rev
[10:18:11] <robotustra> I've seen that some people do own lub on the base of water + WD40 + dishwasher soap
[10:18:22] <robotustra> can't find a link
[10:19:05] <robotustra> like 90% of water, about 8% of WD40 and about 2% of soap
[10:19:21] <robotustra> don't remember exactly.
[10:20:39] <robotustra> I tried to use pure WD40 in the mist and it's just become a fog which is mainly flying away, not lubing anything
[10:21:27] <SpeedEvil> I tried to use WD40 in the mist - really upset the gorillas.
[10:24:03] <gregcnc> plain old WD40 doesn't work as chain lube. today wd40 makes real lube products
[10:24:08] <robotustra> it just fly around :)

[19:52:31] <Tom_L> hazzy-dev, the mode i posted in devel is effective
[19:53:10] <Tom_L> hazzy-dev +r isn't necessary but you can
[19:59:24] <hazzy-lab> Thanks Tom_L!
[19:59:30] <hazzy-lab> i guess it is just coincidence, but a freenode op just stepped in and set the chan to +r
[19:59:34] <Tom_L> i'd pm the op and wait
[19:59:54] <Tom_L> you don't need +r, the +q one lets them join but they can't talk
[20:00:08] <Tom_L> and it doesn't disturb any logging bots etc
[20:00:09] <hazzy-lab> what you posted in devel seems like a great solution though, as new users can see what is going on
[20:00:16] <hazzy-lab> yes

[21:25:29] <Crom_> 1/5hp sewing machine motor spindle
[21:26:27] <Crom_> X Y look to be 100+ ozin steppers, z looks to be a 42ozin
[21:29:09] <infornography> yeah that looks like it. You think that spindle is 110 AC then?
[21:30:13] <infornography> This one is not closed look tho

[21:35:15] <infornography> the board fried, it is partially dissembled
[21:35:52] <Wolf__> 110 input to the controller?
[21:36:24] <Wolf__> going to guess the spindle was powered from the controller
[21:36:52] <infornography> yeah, there is a transformer in the cover
[21:38:07] -!- Rab has joined #linuxcnc
[21:38:47] <Wolf__> that doesnt tell much, controller would need DC for some things
[21:40:43] <infornography> I looked at the board for s few minutes, but it's not in front of me now. There was some PICs and nand gates and mosfets, the stuff that ran to the spindle was a more foreign to me though
[21:41:50] <infornography> The way the stuff was crammed in there it was no surprise stuff was fried
[21:41:58] <Wolf__> well, one way to find out, put 110 on the spindle motor wires, if it spins, its 110, if it smokes, it might be DC
[21:43:06] <infornography> I will play with it.
[21:43:22] <Wolf__> might be some better ways to figure out what the motor is wound for
