[06:12:16] <nkp216_> Has anyone already tried this at work?
[06:12:33] <nkp216_> (increase in the number of tools to 256)
[06:12:45] <nkp216_> https://forum.linuxcnc.org
[06:13:25] <XXCoder> supported tools # is all way to 99999
[06:13:40] <XXCoder> BUT only 56 tools in tools table
[06:13:46] <XXCoder> of whatever number its set to
[06:14:24] <XXCoder> I run machines at work that has 250 tools so yeah lol
[06:14:33] <XXCoder> theres one with 500 tools but never ran that one
[06:17:25] <nkp216_> EMC machines??
[06:17:44] <XXCoder> nah company machines
[06:17:53] <XXCoder> like I said tool table limition is 56 entries
[06:21:28] <nkp216_> question about patch :
[06:21:35] <nkp216_> https://github.com
[06:23:35] <XXCoder> looks like quite stright change
[06:23:56] <XXCoder> sql idea seems interesting
[06:24:08] <XXCoder> too bad while I can program i have lost most of skills
[06:24:29] <nkp216_> I tried it and it works (emс changes the tool on the command T250 M6)
[06:24:52] <XXCoder> you can use any tool number up to 99999
[06:25:02] <XXCoder> but try add more tools till you go past 56 tools
[06:27:38] <nkp216_> I now have 250 tools in the table
[06:27:55] <XXCoder> nice
[06:28:21] -!- gloops has quit [Ping timeout: 252 seconds]
[06:43:53] <rmu> M73 in remapped g-code also seems to do unwanted stuff while preview-generation
[06:44:17] <rmu> i get some strange "F1,0M4 unknown character used" errors
[06:46:30] -!- gloops has joined #linuxcnc
[06:49:57] <nkp216_> comma vs point ?
[06:50:20] <gloops> great, made a nice little replacement tension roller for the dryer, fits works perfect - press button to test - fine, but the heating element arced out and went up in glowing ashes
[06:50:24] <XXCoder> localizaion problem maybe yeah
[06:50:49] <gloops> luckily they are only £15 lol
[06:50:56] <XXCoder> hey gloops ! check out video I made https://youtu.be
[06:52:32] <gloops> looks like you got the hang of that XXCoder
[06:52:37] <XXCoder> yep
[06:52:49] <XXCoder> i also finished cleaning up the vismach file
[06:52:57] <XXCoder> so its now very readable tutorial machine
[06:53:08] <XXCoder> problem is im not sure where to add and type out on wiki.
[06:54:57] <gloops> well once youve got the knowledge plenty of time to sort out a tutorial
[06:55:11] <XXCoder> yeah
[06:55:18] <XXCoder> too bad jt is on vacation lol
[06:56:50] <XXCoder> I even made nice ascii tree on how parts of vismach is connected together into machine
[06:57:02] <gloops> there have been people in here asking about this
[06:57:10] <XXCoder> really?
[06:57:33] <gloops> yeah im pretty sure, in fact wasnt unreal asking about it a while ago
[06:59:32] <XXCoder> well hopefully my tutorial will end up being useful
[06:59:37] <XXCoder> only blank spot is work
[06:59:59] <XXCoder> it may be because it is not fully defined and used on linuxcnc side also?

[07:03:42] -!- Inline has quit [Read error: Connection reset by peer]
[07:05:37] <gloops> ive never looked into it tbh
[07:06:01] <XXCoder> work object is just a mystery
[07:06:21] <XXCoder> all uses i see is just work = Capture()
[07:06:31] <XXCoder> then making it part of model
[07:06:44] <XXCoder> in my case its point on top of x table, at center
[07:17:43] <rmu> nkp216_: M73 should reset some settings like G90/G91, Feedrate etc... to the values they had before calling an o subroutine
[07:19:03] <rmu> so the comma it tries to set in F1,0 is probably self-generated
[07:19:56] <rmu> real error message: M7x: restore_settings failed executing: ' F1,0': Bad character ',' used
[07:20:15] -!- CNC_Brian has quit [Quit: This computer has gone to sleep]
[07:20:21] <rmu> I wouldn't be surprised if this is a locale issue... somehow reminds me
[07:21:12] -!- CNC_Brian has joined #linuxcnc
[07:21:15] <XXCoder> yeah change to .
[07:22:14] <rmu> wischelstudio used to (only sometimes) put version numbers of project XML files through localisation and changed '.' to ',' and vice versa. fun when using source control
[07:22:56] <rmu> XXCoder: I can't change that, because linuxcnc saves those values upon M73 and should restore them automatically. restore fails. but only while generating the preview. program runs fine.

[08:31:39] <XXCoder> check the video out https://youtu.be
[08:34:01] <JT-Shop> looks like you got that sorted out
[08:34:12] <XXCoder> yeah
[08:34:22] <XXCoder> the vismach file is full of comments and details
[08:34:30] <XXCoder> but I dont really want to write wiki on it
[08:34:50] <XXCoder> wnna do it? all I ask is don't change machine name lol
[08:35:48] <XXCoder> or point out where page I can start writeu[

[08:38:32] <JT-Shop> still trying to connect to my raspberry pi 3b with the ethernet cable lol
[08:39:30] <XXCoder> whats issue wit it?
[08:39:39] <methods_> did you try plugging it in?
[08:40:38] <JT-Shop> I want to ssh into it but can't seem to get it to connect like the internet said I could
[08:40:57] <XXCoder> hmm is rspi using same subnet as yours?

[08:46:28] <XXCoder> nice
[08:46:41] <JT-Shop> whoop I'm in
[08:46:42] <XXCoder> where should I write my guide and stuff in wiki?
[08:46:57] <XXCoder> way to go. whats you do?
[08:47:12] <JT-Shop> wiki is pretty lame and outdated IMHO
[08:47:27] <JT-Shop> it should be in the docs how you did it
[08:47:40] <XXCoder> yeah not sure how to add
[08:48:00] <XXCoder> rolfmill vismach file is extremely detailed and commented
[08:48:09] <JT-Shop> you give me the information and it gets added by magic
[08:51:36] <XXCoder> okay though testing something to make sure first
[08:51:48] <JT-Shop> crap I forgot to copy my notes on ssfh...
[08:53:04] <XXCoder> I changed my mind and made tool appear right away with t(number)m6
[08:53:32] <XXCoder> need to call g43h(number) to set tooltip so it draws from tip
[08:53:44] <XXCoder> just like real machine, if you forget that it will crash
[08:54:12] <XXCoder> ie stove tool though table or dont even reach part, in whatever direction incorrect set length is lol
[08:54:41] <XXCoder> ok how do you want to get 3 files? rolfmill, rolfmill.hal and rolfmill.ini
[08:54:52] <weenerdog> cool paintjob on that mill man.
[08:54:54] <XXCoder> I want to add those 3 files to linuxcnc distro too
[08:55:26] <XXCoder> weenerdog: thanks lol
[08:56:01] <weenerdog> say you got it unfucked?
[08:56:12] <XXCoder> yep!
[08:56:17] <weenerdog> shweet
[08:56:36] <weenerdog> that last 100 yards of a project can be a humnogger
[08:56:42] <XXCoder> its like having blocked door to across kitchen so just go downstairs, go across it, go up another stairs and go in kitchen other way
[08:56:53] <XXCoder> its complex way to do it but works fine
[08:57:13] <XXCoder> side benefit is tool object updates instantly with tNm6

[09:03:18] <weenerdog> choo a vampire?
[09:04:09] <XXCoder> lol

[09:06:13] <JT-Shop> more like @j5m^4u<.t6}9*+q2)&^
[09:06:23] <XXCoder> lol
[09:06:26] <weenerdog> i hate the new time. the day daylight savings time ended, i cut firewood all day and was wiped out, so 8:30pm i just had nothing left and went to bed. my last thought was "you know you're going to be basically at 7:30 right?"
[09:06:34] <XXCoder> I usr password manager awesome
[09:06:39] <weenerdog> since then, boom, wide awake 0400 every morning
[09:07:19] * JT-Shop is wide away at 4am anyway and had all his firewood done long before winter sets in
[09:07:40] <XXCoder> no wood to do here

[09:10:42] <rmu> JT-Shop: do you know pwgen? generates memorizable passwords
[09:10:45] <weenerdog> i didn't cut a single load wearing more than a tshirt
[09:11:25] <JT-Shop> never used pwgen but I wrote a password generator to generate difficult to guess passwords
[09:11:44] <weenerdog> i just use my dog or girlfriend's name lol
[09:14:51] <XXCoder> JT-Shop: check out the fancy tree I made lol
[09:15:26] <XXCoder> very easy to spot, its in concept of machine design section

[09:23:21] <XXCoder> oops line 193 error...
[09:23:33] <XXCoder> # now define collection of ybase and xbase. change it to # now define collection of ybase and xassembly.
[09:23:58] <XXCoder> somehow missed it with bunch of proof checkjs
[09:26:14] <gloops> damn missed the diy shop, needed some threaded bar
[09:27:57] <JT-Shop> just got back from the shower looking now
[09:28:03] -!- CNC_Brian has joined #linuxcnc
[09:28:24] <XXCoder> you would need to fix line 193 minor error but may confuse someone
[09:29:25] -!- CNC_Brian has quit [Client Quit]
[09:30:01] <JT-Shop> got it
[09:30:49] <JT-Shop> BTW you can surround lots of text with """ bunch of comments over several lines """
[09:31:12] <XXCoder> oh didnt know about triple doubkle quotes
[09:31:26] <XXCoder> eh its fine
[09:31:36] <XXCoder> what ya think of comments so far?
[09:32:03] <JT-Shop> nice, love lots of comments
[09:32:23] <JT-Shop> I thought I had the damn touch pad turned off
[09:32:47] <XXCoder> its santized lol most of comments were rougher but essentally same, but there was bunch of "what the heck does this do?"
[09:33:04] <XXCoder> and some obslete comments from what I misunderstood stuff, etc
[09:33:28] <XXCoder> code I dummied out and such was also removed as it dont seem nesscary now
[09:34:17] <XXCoder> most strange code is tool length and diameter update, as it incluydes in itself entire vismach so it can modify itself
[09:34:36] <XXCoder> nesscary since it have to change one part shape
[09:34:57] <XXCoder> thats why that section is far more comments than code lol
[09:35:43] <JT-Shop> the comments are great and will make adding useful info to the docs very easy for me thanks for the help
[09:36:05] <XXCoder> no problem!
[09:36:20] <XXCoder> only unclear spot is work
[09:36:26] <JT-Shop> the tree is a very good visual on how it fits together
[09:36:29] <XXCoder> I think linuxcnc dont add anything to do that
[09:36:54] <JT-Shop> if you make any changes just email it to me again
[09:36:59] <XXCoder> ok
[09:37:13] <XXCoder> doubtful as its been heavily reviewed bunch of times
[09:37:26] <XXCoder> literally only one word was wrong lol (ignoring my ugly grammar errors)
[09:39:43] <XXCoder> is the column box comment clear?
[09:39:49] <XXCoder> that one I wondered
[09:40:45] <JT-Shop> # column, attached to base on side. < this section?
[09:41:03] <XXCoder> line 139
[09:41:52] <JT-Shop> other than a word spelled wrong it makes sense to me
[09:42:06] <XXCoder> ah y one. oh well lol
[09:42:30] <JT-Shop> I always type a while then fix the spellos lol
[09:44:46] <XXCoder> hope its all clear so far
[09:45:42] <JT-Shop> looks good to me so far, we will be out all day check back in this evening
[09:45:56] <XXCoder> have fun :) going to bed

[11:19:49] <_abc_> I need the generic part number because the catalog of my supplier has no pics

[11:20:09] <_abc_> Does not matter, I'll figure out the rest from the context. I just need a DIN number for it. Like 626 etc

[11:21:22] <_abc_> 608ZZ is not a flanged type. I assume the suffix adds the flange. Not sure.

[11:21:37] <Tom_L> https://www.vxb.com
[11:21:42] <Tom_L> they have pics

[14:59:41] <gloops> what HP is this motor anybody? https://www.ebay.co.uk
[15:00:02] <gloops> 1.5 i think
[15:04:47] <MarcelineVQ> mmm, does that say 11amps? 11 amps at 240v = 2640w 1 kw = 1.34102 hp 2.64kw = 3.54hp
[15:05:08] <MarcelineVQ> But uhm, those are just numbers, maybe motors have more to them than that
[15:06:43] <rmu> gloops: this motor has about 2kW
[15:08:20] <rmu> a bit on the high side for single phase ac induction "steinmetz" motor
[15:08:25] <rmu> IMHO
[15:10:00] <gloops> whats the wo 1500 represent?
[15:10:48] <gloops> the seller reckons 3hp - thats a lot for domestic 240 supply
[15:11:15] <MarcelineVQ> but in line with the plate, 220V@11A is 3.2hp
[15:12:25] <MarcelineVQ> mind you, 220V@1,1A is 0.3hp so, depends on how readable that is :>
[15:12:37] <pcw_home> a 1.5 HP motor 220V is about 10A
[15:12:55] <pcw_home> (due to power factor)
[15:13:55] <MarcelineVQ> so there is more to motors, thank you pcw_home
[15:14:58] <gloops> suppose ill have to go and have a look, it says 10 inch long - seems small for 3hp
[15:15:24] <pcw_home> There are good charts for this like: https://www.engineeringtoolbox.com
[15:16:16] <MarcelineVQ> *bookmarks*
[15:21:09] <rmu> https://www.js-technik.de
[15:22:11] <MarcelineVQ> gloops: note that given the latest info that's a 1.5hp motor
[15:22:48] <gloops> lol, see intuition of a non electrician
[15:23:14] <gloops> thats about what i want anyway, thanks all
[15:25:01] <gloops> hes also selling a tody looking little lathe, but i wont even think about looking at that
[15:25:05] <gloops> tidy
[15:25:55] <rmu> i crashed my ATC
[15:25:57] <rmu> damn
[15:26:20] <gloops> any damage?

[15:27:00] <gloops> something else will be bent then
[15:27:33] <rmu> no, the y axis went into it with G0... nothing bent there
[15:27:53] <rmu> just a small ding in the paint
[15:28:28] <rmu> that's a heavy 100kg aluminium part
[15:29:03] <gloops> should be ok then
[15:29:24] <rmu> i was surprised what kind of forces these servos can develop...
[15:31:18] <gloops> i dont have those problems with my chinese steppers, anything hits anything i just hear a clacking sound
[15:39:40] <Loetmichel> rmu: i once miscalculate the travel on a 500kg rotating grinding table with a 3kw ac servo...
[15:39:52] <Loetmichel> moved ~2" to far...
[15:40:30] <Loetmichel> the end stops that were fixed to the linear rails with 2 M8 8.8 screws each flew across the shop and embedded themselves in the brick wall across.
[15:40:34] <Loetmichel> THAT was scary
[15:44:36] <rmu> M8 against 3kW sounds unfair
[15:46:34] <rmu> i was lucky because the servo controller has kind of a velocity-dependant torque limit
[15:56:34] <renesis> isnt that just like, motors?
[15:56:42] <renesis> or you can set a map or something
[15:57:16] <renesis> guys my linuxcnc is ancient af, why should i upgrade?
[15:58:28] <gloops> is the machine working ok?

[15:59:42] <renesis> ya, taig stepper, 1/4 blown up xylotex, same axis gui setup, very vanilla, for prob 5 years?
[16:00:28] <gloops> well i dont know why you would upgrade if the old version isnt a restriction on anything
[16:00:40] <rmu> never run a changing system
[16:00:44] <renesis> yeah i was just asking because maybe a reason
[16:01:07] <gloops> could stick another hard drive in with new version of linuxcnc and set it up alongside the old one
[16:01:18] <renesis> i didnt know axis was python, i should dig into that, maybe learn something
[16:03:39] <renesis> gloops: yeah, but its kind of a random junker dell, i dont really want to open it up

[16:07:10] <renesis> i had a little mini mobo atom pc with reg size atx PSU, sexy little lian li case, but it died :(
[16:07:25] <renesis> have better lucky with junker pc
[16:07:51] <renesis> *luck
[16:07:52] <gloops> we have a big car boot sale near me every sunday, they more or less give old pcs and bits away

[16:33:37] <renesis> is not broken, tho, and its offline so i dont care about ancient lunix
