[02:25:27] <CaptHindsight> https://imgur.com Dice dotter
[02:29:51] <Rab> That's cool, but how do they orient the dice for that? By hand?
[02:30:19] <Rab> And how does it know which side is up, and how to paint it? Machine vision???
[02:32:32] <CaptHindsight> I don't see any machine vision
[02:32:51] <CaptHindsight> lots of ways to do this, not sure what they did
[02:33:19] <Rab> The pin painter linked in the comments is even crazier, has to be machine vision: https://imgur.com
[02:33:59] <Rab> Although I guess it's possible the machine started with a wide-angle picture of the whole tray, and the head is dumb.
[02:34:08] <CaptHindsight> yes
[02:34:23] <CaptHindsight> depends on are they random or not
[02:34:58] <Rab> The pins have got to be random.
[02:35:42] <CaptHindsight> looks that way
[02:36:27] * Loetmichel now has to mill 4 19" 2U front panels... out of 8mm alu... http://www.cyrom.org <- 2 front to back of that enclosure... slightly modified for the newer system inside... THAT will take a while with a 3mm 2 flute mill bit. :-)
[02:37:31] <Rab> Loetmichel, do you use coolant? Ever tried 3 flute?
[02:37:42] <Loetmichel> nope, dry
[02:37:52] <Loetmichel> and no, 3flute would clog to easy

[05:25:54] <jthornton> morning
[05:27:07] <XXCoder> morning
[05:50:11] <CNC_Brian> Guy's, Anyone know of a Python based UI for LinuxCNC I want something I can edit.
[05:50:36] <XXCoder> jthornton: umm is yours python based? i dont think so but..
[05:51:43] <jthornton> yea one sec
[05:52:09] <XXCoder> i need to try building a ui and learning how it works
[05:52:28] <XXCoder> and write a how to for machine using 3axis-tutorial
[05:52:44] <jthornton> https://qtpyvcp.kcjengr.com
[05:52:50] <jthornton> https://github.com
[05:52:56] <jthornton> https://github.com
[05:53:11] <XXCoder> you extended it since then I see :)
[05:53:18] <jthornton> https://qtpyvcp.kcjengr.com
[05:53:23] <jthornton> that's my tutorial
[05:53:44] <XXCoder> examples wow!
[05:53:51] <jthornton> yea I need some new screenshots I updated the bp_touch a bit yesterday
[05:54:09] <XXCoder> 4 new sections
[05:55:18] <jthornton> in the tutorial?
[05:55:24] <XXCoder> yea
[05:56:26] <jthornton> I have another section to do I just thought of
[05:58:46] <XXCoder> cool :)
[05:59:01] <XXCoder> do you change ini to use whatever ui want to use?
[05:59:25] <XXCoder> for example its using axis, and i want to change to bp_touch
[06:03:15] <jthornton> yea, once you install a ui you just change one line in the ini to switch
[06:03:32] <XXCoder> nice. thanks
[06:03:38] <jthornton> CNC_Brian: that bp_touch ui took me an hour to make
[06:04:02] <jthornton> https://qtpyvcp.kcjengr.com
[06:04:06] <XXCoder> do you know how to add notes to youtube? I need to change rolfmill to 3axis_tutorial in video lol
[06:04:38] <jthornton> no, been a long time since I posted a putube video
[06:04:43] -!- Sairon has quit [Quit: Leaving]
[06:04:45] <XXCoder> drat ok
[06:05:07] <CNC_Brian> Thanks, Will take a look

[06:16:20] <Loetmichel> *gnhihi* just cut off a 500mm by 110mm strip of a big 1000mm by 500mm 8mm thick Alu slab. With a scroll saw. That poor thing now smells badly like hot enamel... $me should really get a "cold saw" (slow circular saw) for metal for the company... that takes AAAGES.
[06:17:01] <Tom_L> morning
[06:17:40] <XXCoder> lol
[06:17:41] <XXCoder> hey
[06:20:30] <Tom_L> Loetmichel i found it easier to cut with a .125 em than a jig saw although i've cut 5/8 with one
[06:20:43] <Tom_L> you use what ya got
[06:21:27] <Tom_L> get a midsize bandsaw for cutoff
[06:21:33] <rmu> Loetmichel: get a band saw
[06:42:02] <XXCoder> walls of my room is as cold as outside.
[06:42:12] -!- leorat has quit [Quit: leorat]
[06:42:27] <SpeedEvil> Loetmichel: Or, well, a hacksaw
[06:50:31] <Loetmichel> SpeedEvil: i have a hacksaw. no chance to do a 500mm long cut with that
[06:50:50] <Loetmichel> unless you mean a naked hacksaw blade with some tape around for a handle
[06:50:50] <SpeedEvil> Loetmichel: you don't know how to use a hacksaw.
[06:51:20] <SpeedEvil> Loosen hacksaw blade, rotate 90 degrees.
[06:51:48] <SpeedEvil> Oh - I misread.
[06:51:49] <Loetmichel> still wont fit
[06:51:54] <SpeedEvil> I thought you wanted an 8mm strip.
[06:52:00] <XXCoder> lol
[06:52:04] <SpeedEvil> hacksaws with 110mm clearance are rarer
[06:52:11] <Loetmichel> the hacksaw has less than 100mm between blade and "bow"
[06:53:10] <Loetmichel> no, i need to make 4 of those fronts and backs and the 500*1000mm material dosent fit the CNC mill: http://www.cyrom.org
[06:53:19] <Loetmichel> 2 fronts and two backs
[06:53:34] <Loetmichel> so i have to cut it to "rough size" beforehand
[06:53:56] <Loetmichel> wich is a task in itself for 8mm thick sheet alu if you dont have the correct tool
[06:56:19] -!- P1ersson has quit [Ping timeout: 244 seconds]
[06:57:15] <SpeedEvil> For rough size in 8mm aluminium, any circular saw will work fine IME.

[07:11:49] <Tomoe> How are you gentlemen!!
[07:12:03] <XXCoder> move the zigs!!
[07:12:26] <XXCoder> seriously the zigs is on way of my battleships.
[07:13:13] <Tomoe> is this channel for cnc stuff only or for manual machining as well
[07:13:17] <Tomoe> ?
[07:14:45] <XXCoder> honestly we talk a lot about stuff thats not purely cnc
[07:18:15] <jthornton> don't forget we talk about chickens too :)
[07:18:39] <Tomoe> I'm trying to find more info about a lathe/mill thingy
[07:18:45] <Tomoe> and don't know where to look
[07:20:28] <Tomoe> https://www.2ememain.be
[07:20:34] <Tomoe> ^^^^ dis
[07:23:47] <SpeedEvil> First obvious step would be if there is a nameplate somewhere, I don't see one
[07:24:14] <Loetmichel> SpeedEvil: circular saw would work, been there done that... just that the company doesent own one... and i have NO idea where my private circular saw went
[07:24:20] <Loetmichel> cant find it
[07:25:10] <Loetmichel> so the scroll saw we have at the company was the only option
[07:25:57] <Loetmichel> angle grinder would have worked, too, but would probably need more grinding disks than i have at hand here (clogging, not using them up)
[07:26:09] <Tomoe> SpeedEvil: yeah went through that step already, seller says no info re: manufacturer/model#
[07:26:43] <SpeedEvil> I almost wonder if it's some bastardised cut+shut job
[07:29:06] <Tomoe> watumean
[07:29:24] <XXCoder> custom job.
[07:30:04] <SpeedEvil> Someone has sliced off parts of various machines and welded them together.
[07:30:10] <Tomoe> lol
[07:30:16] <Tomoe> because it seems complex?
[07:30:29] <Tomoe> I mean it's like
[07:30:40] <Tomoe> halfway between a universal mill and a mill/lathe combo
[07:30:55] <Tomoe> but anyho
[07:30:57] <SpeedEvil> A perjorative term applied to low-skilled vehicle remanufacture taking two broken cars and putting them together.
[07:31:07] <Tomoe> you guys know of a better place to ask
[07:31:07] <Tomoe> ?
[07:31:33] <SpeedEvil> Not off-hand. Wait aroind, someone might have a suggestion

[07:54:18] <Loetmichel> :-)
[07:54:48] <Loetmichel> oder auch "aus drei mach eins"... one of my uncles did that back in the days with Renault R4 and R6
