[07:52:45] <XXCoder> i like some but im not impressed with some stuff

[08:28:52] <XXCoder> its funny, it has that issue and it has .1 movement handle speed
[08:28:57] <Tom_L> they teach the haas control here at the vo'tech
[08:29:15] <XXCoder> which helps actually since i can slowly move down faster (sounds weird but there ya go)

[09:09:15] <andypugh> That handle operation is selectable in LinuxCNC.
[09:09:40] <andypugh> In that the machine can either stop at the point that you dialled in, or stop when you stop turning the handle.
[09:09:50] <andypugh> Both options make some sort of sense…

[19:41:16] <andypugh> I was puzzled about how to do the job until I had the idea of making a “stick” of jaws each with the right offset.
[19:41:51] <andypugh> (jaw bodies on 20mm spacing, teeth on 20 + ( 2.5mm / 6 ) spacing)
[19:43:25] <andypugh> Then each tooth is defined by arcs with the centre offset by pitch/3 from the centre line, with the inner radius being the smallest scroll tooth that it sees, and the outer radius matching the biggest.
[19:43:59] <andypugh> You kinf of imagine that the teeth are just a parallel spiral thread, but if you do that the jaws can only fit in one place.

[20:16:55] <andypugh> I had to do some fitting, for example, as the 6 slots came out different widths. Probably a backlash / stiffness thing with my mill.
