[12:12:37] <CaptHindsight> tjtr33: was frustrating trying to use Raspian/Debian on the pi since there is so much conflicting info, yes is no, on is off, dyslexics should really have someone check their posts
[12:22:03] <Javabean> why, do you ralely hvae tlrboue radieng tihs knid of egnilsh?
[12:23:58] <CaptHindsight> it's more the yes/no, up/down, on/off, do this/don't do this flipping
[12:25:20] <Javabean> ah, so normal forum fun

[16:37:12] <unterhaus_> skunkworks, is there a part two of the estop on youtube?
[16:38:18] <skunkworks> unterhaus_: not yet. Soon. Been making video.
[16:39:11] <unterhaus_> okey, thanks
[16:44:18] <skunkworks> wow - so far so good... https://www.practicalmachinist.com

[16:52:32] <skunkworks> well - if you have ever seen a 'hobby' post on pm...
[16:52:58] <Jymmm> pcw_home: Hey, you safe over there?
[16:53:32] <Jymmm> skunkworks: What gave you the idea to make that tooling fo the hex?
[16:53:51] -!- Centurion_Dan has joined #linuxcnc
[16:54:04] <XXCoder> skunk i dont normally read at that site heh so dunno on pm
[16:54:20] <XXCoder> great im coughing so much again. damn pollen
[16:54:50] <XXCoder> it just ahd to be spring while coronavirus goes sound so I look like i have coronavirus constantly for whole time
[16:54:56] <XXCoder> *around
[16:55:40] <skunkworks> Jymmm: make the tooling? it is just an import small boring bar. (that we sharpened)
[16:55:59] <skunkworks> it isn't very good at all - but showed that the concept works
[17:00:30] <Jymmm> skunkworks: ah looks like you welded it together
[17:01:32] <skunkworks> someone did...
[17:01:48] <skunkworks> it is carbide braized onto the end of a holder
[17:02:06] <Jymmm> gotcha

[18:20:20] <veegee> Anyone have any ideas on how to correctly retension a V belt?
[18:20:44] <veegee> I loosened the 4 mounting bolts on my compressor motor to swap the pulley to a smaller one
[18:21:12] <veegee> now I have to figure out how to tighten them again while keeping the belt under tension

[18:24:32] <JT-Shop> 2x4, crow bar etc.]
[18:27:23] <Jymmm> If it sqeaks, tighten it up more
[18:27:53] <veegee> Hmm AC motor bases are pretty cheap
[18:28:10] <veegee> $35 CAD for a 215T frame motor. Those come with adjustment screws for exactly this kind of thing
[18:28:19] <veegee> I think I'll get one of those
[18:28:58] <veegee> I'm in the process of dismantling my generator to disconnect the GFCI. Supper annoying
[18:29:01] * JT-Shop bets that the Banggood disposable face masks don't keep much out smaller than sawdust
[18:47:11] <Jymmm> JT-Shop: the PM2.5 N95 ones?
[18:48:05] <Jymmm> JT-Shop: I've been looking at these (not disposable) https://www.aliexpress.com
[18:50:22] -!- jasen has quit [Remote host closed the connection]
[18:52:52] <JT-Shop> the problem with aliexpress is it comes from china at least banggood ships from Canada or the US
[18:53:23] <JT-Shop> looks cool
[18:53:41] <Jymmm> Neoprine, so it's washable
[18:53:53] <Jymmm> so nothing from BG comes from china???????
[18:55:00] <JT-Shop> yea I assume it all comes from china originally but is stocked in the NH
[18:55:35] <JT-Shop> NA

[22:39:33] -!- Wolf__ has joined #linuxcnc
[22:39:53] <skunkworks> uc100? why on earth?
[22:42:18] <Crom> For my Win10 laptops. Still looking at getting LinuxCNC working with my Raspberry Pi 4 and my Mesa board
[22:43:26] <veegee> flyback it keeps tripping for no reason
[22:44:26] <veegee> Likely because I'm using very long cables about 50m in length (half a football field for the dumbfuck football watching americans)
[22:44:58] <veegee> that must be radiating a few milliamps with the VFD switching at radio frequencies
[22:45:02] -!- justanotheruser has joined #linuxcnc
[22:45:06] <Javabean> handegg?? sportsball?
[22:45:10] <veegee> certainly enough to trip the GFCI.
[22:45:43] <veegee> Also I really don't need a GFCI. People use isolation transformers all the time
[22:46:06] <veegee> I could just buy an isolation transformer, but cheaper just to bypass the GFCI
[22:46:23] <veegee> The outlet panel is really not rebuild friendly on this generator
[22:56:19] <veegee> The long cables are because I'm currently doing all this hobby work in a climate-controlled storage unit. Obviously you're not supposed to, but the employees are nice enough not to care as long as I don't bother anybody. It's perfect because I go there at night after work when it's totally empty. I run the generator outside and run a long cable to the actual unit.
[22:56:56] <veegee> I'll have to try finding a unit closer to the exit if it becomes available to reduce the amount of wire. But yeah 50m of 10 AWG 4 conductor wire isn't cheap
[23:00:46] <roycroft> was it really necessary to characterise people in the us as "dumbfuck football watching americans"?
[23:01:07] <Crom> veegee I bought 60m of 10AWG/4 SJT for like $700 6 years ago
[23:01:55] <Javabean> especially since some of us know that football isn't sportsball/handegg
[23:02:01] <veegee> Oh wow, thanks to pricing error at home depot, I got it for less than $10/m
[23:02:04] <veegee> so less than $500 CAD
[23:02:23] <veegee> They flipped the prices on the 10/4 with the 10/3 haha
[23:02:52] <veegee> 10/4 is great for either 3 phase, or parallel conductors for single phase and twice the current
[23:03:13] <flyback> just be careful veegee
[23:03:20] <veegee> I really don't care about ground. I treat the system like an isolation transformer
[23:03:33] <veegee> But the metal casing on everything is grounded
[23:03:55] <veegee> Most small generators don't even have GFCI. I'm not sure why it's such a big deal
[23:04:04] <flyback> outside
[23:04:05] <flyback> rain
[23:04:05] <flyback> etc
[23:04:44] <veegee> The generator is isolated though
[23:04:57] <veegee> it's on rubber tires so there's no direct contact with ground
[23:05:13] <veegee> Its output is technically floating
[23:45:31] <unterhaus_> the guy my sister in law lives with just bought a generator. I'm pretty sure he's going to kill someone with it
[23:45:41] <unterhaus_> not intentionally
