[09:02:09] <BPL> Siecje: If I'm not mistaken, I recall few months ago you'd asked something about latest version supported on xp, is that correct? I recall i'd told you it was python3.4... Well, in case you're still messing around with python&xp there is this interesting article that clarifies quite a lot of stuff https://ntcore.com . Really nice article btw :D
[09:02:44] <Siecje> Nice thanks
[09:02:51] <Siecje> We stopped supporting XP though.
[09:03:44] <BPL> ah, ok, n.mind then :)
[09:06:08] <BPL> https://www.businessinsider.com <-- 7%
[09:09:14] <BPL> https://netmarketshare.com
[09:09:15] <BPL> 22%2C%22dateEnd%22%3A%222018-08%22%2C%22plotKeys%22%3A%5B%7B%22platformVersion%22%3A%22Windows%20XP%22%7D%5D%2C%22segments%22%3A%22-1000%22%7D , it seems the market share has gone down in the last months though
[09:10:42] <BPL> ie: 2017-10 (7.64%) 2018-08 (3.3%)
[09:17:39] <Siecje> How do they determine that people are running XP
[09:18:41] <BPL> https://netmarketshare.com
[09:24:07] <Siecje> BPL: Have you tried Nuitka recently? It seems like he is doing a lot of work on it.
[09:25:42] <BPL> Siecje: Yeah, I've got more involved and understood pretty well quite a lot of their subsystems, specially the freezer isn't a black-box to me anymore
[09:25:55] <Siecje> Nice
[09:26:47] <BPL> i see a lot of room to improve Nuitka and I'd really like to refactor the whole thing myself, but it'd be the kind of refactoring that'd take me like 2 weeks at least, and i don't have that much spare time :(
[09:27:24] <Siecje> Why do you want to refactor it?
[09:28:34] <BPL> well, the code is quite coupled and there are some really ugly parts, no clear separation between subsystems and overall you could improve the code quite a lot to make it more maintainable/testable
[09:28:43] -!- Flaghacker has quit [Read error: Connection reset by peer]
[09:30:58] <BPL> said otherwise, because lacking of reviewing over the years the project (even if it has parts that are high-quality) has become a https://en.wikipedia.org . So a big refactoring to sanitize it would be great :/
[09:34:51] <Siecje> What if you just refactor one part in less time?
[09:56:05] <Siecje> The-Compiler: Do you use IPv4 networking for local networks?
[09:56:25] <The-Compiler> Siecje: wrong channel? ;)
[09:56:35] <The-Compiler> but yeah, my ISP doesn't even do IPv6 at all :(
[09:56:52] <Siecje> But your local network is also IPv6?
[09:58:32] -!- mandeep has joined #pyqt
[10:04:43] <The-Compiler> sure

[11:52:23] -!- kallesbar has joined #pyqt
[12:17:27] <Siecje> The-Compiler: What is the main benefit?
[12:20:27] <The-Compiler> Siecje: it's not like I had to do anything for it to support IPv6 ;-) But one useful thing is that (if you turn privacy extensions off) you can easily get a device's IP when you know its MAC
[12:21:08] <Siecje> privacy extensions where?
[12:21:24] <The-Compiler> on the machines assigning themselves an address usually
[12:21:47] <Siecje> Can you get the IP from the router if you know the MAC?
[12:22:52] <The-Compiler> sure, but that's effort, and not always possible if it's not your network
[12:26:58] <Siecje> How do you get the IP address of another computer?
