[09:00:15] -!- Siecje has joined #pyqt
[09:15:25] <Siecje> The PyQt5 tutorial in 2018 has a graphical user interface that looks like a Windows 98 application.
[09:16:09] <altendky> The maillist one?
[09:17:42] -!- frispete has joined #pyqt
[09:21:32] -!- frispete_ has quit [Ping timeout: 252 seconds]
[10:01:31] <Siecje> Yeah
[10:06:38] -!- nik90 has quit [Ping timeout: 252 seconds]
[10:38:22] <Siecje> I think most people will think that it doesn't look good and it isn't worth looking at more.
[10:41:10] <The-Compiler> It's the whole point there to show different styles though?
[10:41:38] <altendky> Siecje: specifically the windows theme? Or just that they didn't fully style everything to look anti-native?
[10:42:20] -!- nik90 has joined #pyqt
[10:42:22] <Siecje> The-Compiler: Okay I didn't read the article. I see that there is the same interface with different themes.
[10:42:58] <Siecje> altendky: I guess I even mean Fusion doesn't look good/modern/new.
[10:43:28] <altendky> Siecje: i guess gtk isn't a great place to show off qt being native
[10:43:34] <altendky> seeing as they dropped the gtk theme
[10:43:49] <altendky> kde/windows/osx should be better
[12:35:14] <altendky> The-Compiler: https://github.com can't you return anything and it'll get str()ed?

[14:00:56] -!- hamster007_ has quit [Quit: ZNC 1.6.3+deb1ubuntu0.1 - http://znc.in]
[14:26:23] <The-Compiler> altendky: hmm, right, the Qt modeltester doesn't seem to complain when returning 42
[14:26:36] <The-Compiler> but the docs still say you should return a QString, hmm...
[14:26:58] <altendky> i just assumed pyqt introduced automatic conversion
[14:27:19] <altendky> but, that's likely a bad thing to do given the frequent callbacks to the model
[14:29:03] <altendky> i really don't get the whole no-cache thing between views and models (or in the view itself). i mean we've got dataChanged so... it shouldn't change without such a signal.
[14:29:10] <altendky> separate issue though
