[11:31:41] <Avaris> hmm, can you make "entry_points" gui script show up as "application_name" rather than "python"?
[11:32:00] <Avaris> or freezing (PyInstaller etc) is the way to go?
[11:32:34] <altendky> epyq is being run from source https://usercontent.irccloud-cdn.com
[11:32:56] <altendky> may depend on os but i thought it worked in windows
[11:33:19] <altendky> Avaris: you run your entry point without mentioning python?
[11:33:30] <Avaris> didn't try on windows
[11:33:36] <altendky> macos?
[11:33:50] <Avaris> yep
[11:34:26] <Avaris> but on windows, iirc, if you open multiple windows and taskbar has stacking, it falls back to python logo?
[11:35:20] <Avaris> well, entry_point is basically a script with #! at start. it indirectly runs python
[11:35:55] <altendky> yeah, but in linux/macos you could python my_entry_point
[11:35:58] <altendky> just making sure
[11:36:07] <Avaris> on windows, i think it creates .exe. which could solve that
[11:36:08] <altendky> i do have my application info set via qt.
[11:36:28] <Avaris> qApp.setApplicationName?
[11:36:43] <altendky> https://github.com
[11:36:47] <altendky> though that's upper case
[11:36:52] <altendky> where are you seeing the python exactly?
[11:37:19] <Avaris> taskbar
[11:37:33] <altendky> oh, that should be the titlebar? or maybe application name
[11:37:39] <altendky> not sure in mac i supose
[11:38:02] <altendky> *the window title is what i meant
[11:38:17] <Avaris> window icon is applied but neither application name or window title affects that. it just shows python3.7
[11:38:38] <altendky> my thing supposedly works in macos if you want to check it
[11:39:33] <Avaris> sure let me try
[11:41:59] <Avaris> do i need create_venv.py, or just `pip install .` is good enough?
[11:42:52] <altendky> probably the latter. create_venv creates the env and installs the requirements files etc
[11:43:19] <altendky> or just do the former and let it do the work if you trust it
[11:43:46] <Avaris> i like virtualenvwrapper handling my venvs :)
[11:48:28] <Avaris> fails while installing pyinstaller: fatal: reference is not a tree: 4f6e9a22ab7990cf0b8242715997bca6ac1c068a
[11:48:49] <altendky> ugh, they rebased that stupid pr instead of merging. i hate it when people do that
[11:48:59] <altendky> let me grab the latest
[11:49:04] <altendky> i just updated that yesterday too
[11:50:03] <Avaris> you can just reference PR
[11:51:05] <altendky> fb24e328a764dd6748a9973a28c90466833793f4
[11:51:10] <Avaris> i think something like: pip install git+https...@refs/pull/PRNO/head
[11:51:26] <altendky> i wanted the commit that was working though...
[11:51:35] <altendky> do _not_ rewrite public history *sigh*
[11:52:39] <altendky> just committed it too
[11:52:42] <Avaris> it's ok for PRs, we usually require cleanup rebases before merging
[11:53:18] <altendky> i mean yeah, my view isn't a consensus. but... i dunno.
[11:54:23] <Avaris> otherwise you get 5 commits fixing individual typos :)
[11:54:42] <altendky> that's why you have a PR and a merge commit for the summaries
[11:56:59] <Avaris> umm, this doesn't have any taskbar entry :S
[11:58:37] <Avaris> or menu?
[11:58:51] <altendky> that's cool
[11:59:05] <altendky> last i heard it had a menu but had a couple things in the wrong place for mac
[11:59:20] <altendky> you see the tree view with the Offline entry?
[11:59:27] <Avaris> lives over my terminal with always stay on top kinda thing
[11:59:58] <Avaris> yeah i can see offline entry
[12:00:02] <altendky> huh, it should be a pretty normal window
[12:05:08] <altendky> sorry. the last two times it had worked for people, give or take
[12:05:37] <Avaris> weird, i don't see anything odd with the code
[12:07:24] <altendky> how cheap could i get a mac that would be useful for basic checks of stuff?
[12:09:38] <Avaris> no idea :( mine is a work/company laptop. i'm not really a mac person otherwise
[12:10:07] <Avaris> oh hold on
[12:10:33] <Avaris> activating venv and running `epyq` "fixed" stuff
[12:11:15] <Avaris> (^ instead of running `./venv/bin/epyq`)
[12:11:31] <altendky> i never activate so... :|

[12:11:54] <Avaris> virtualenvwrapper is nice like that :)
[12:12:58] <Avaris> yeah, same issue. icon is fine but shows up as python3.7
[12:15:22] <altendky> #python time i guess
